Electrical and geometrical tuning of MoS2 field effect transistors : Via direct nanopatterning [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Mechanically exfoliated van der Waals materials can be used to prepare proof-of-concept electronic devices. Their optoelectronic properties strongly depend on the geometry and number of layers present in the exfoliated flake.

Increased Endurance of Nonvolatile Photonics Enabled by Nanostructured Phase‐Change Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 31, 2 June 2026.
Tapered and segmented islands of the phase‐change material (PCM) antimony selenide (Sb2Se3) integrated on silicon microring resonators enable ultra‐low‐loss, high‐endurance, non‐volatile photonic tuning. The nanostructured PCM design suppresses interfacial scattering and thermal stress, achieving record endurance over 100 million electrical switching ...

New Directions in Focused Ion Beam Induced Deposition for the Nanoprinting of Functional 3D Heterostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, Volume 11, Issue 11, 5 June 2026.
Here, it is shown that focused ion beam induced deposition (FIBID) using helium and neon ions enables advanced high‐resolution 3D nanoprinting achieving precise multimaterial architectures and engineered internal voids. Thus, FIBID with finely focused noble gas ion species is presented as a unique platform for designing functional nanomaterials for ...

Spectrally Encoded Proximity‐Field Nanopatterning

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, Volume 14, Issue 23, 19 June 2026.
Spectrally encoded proximity‐field nanopatterning (SEPN) enables continuous control of the out‐of‐plane periodicity of 3D photonic crystals by tuning the exposure wavelength while maintaining a fixed in‐plane period. This decouples near‐infrared reflectance from visible iridescence and allows fabrication of integrated multipattern devices with ...

Giant Enhancement of the Anomalous Transverse Magneto‐Optical Kerr Effect in a Magneto‐Optical Grating

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 10, 27 May 2026.
We demonstrate an indirect magneto‐optical coupling mechanism that overrides the symmetry‐induced suppression of s‐polarized TMOKE. A quasi‐two‐dimensional grating coordinates orthogonal resonances to establish a near‐zero reflection background and maximal near‐field asymmetry, achieving a theoretical‐limit TMOKE of ∼2.

Near sputter-threshold GaSb nanopatterning

open access: yes, 2013
Nanopatterning at sputter-threshold energies with Ar irradiation of GaSb (100) surfaces is presented. Comparison with high-energy irradiations up to 1000 eV is conducted measuring in-situ the composition evolution over irradiation time at early stages (e.

Nanopatterning: Implications in Regenerative Medicine

open access: yesJournal of Applied Pharmacy, 2017
Regenerative medicine is based on stem cells, which have the ability to differentiate into special type of body cells, and hence, they were proven clinically successful in organ transplantation, as well as in the functional treatment of several diseases (1).
