Rotating Gold Nanomotors for High-Resolution Mapping of Subcellular Nanomotions. [PDF]

open access: yesSmall Methods
A nanomotor‐based method uses optically driven, rotating gold nanorods to detect nanometer‐scale cellular movements with 10 nm spatial and millisecond temporal resolution. Applied to live endothelial cells, the technique reveals subcellular mechanical activity and distinct frequency regimes, capturing transient, localized oscillations.

Nonlinear Optimal Tracking Control of a Piezoelectric Nanopositioning Stage [PDF]

open access: yesSPIE Proceedings, 2006
High performance nanopositioning stages, used in a variety of applications such as atomic force microscopy and three-dimensional nanometer-scale lithography, require stringent position control over relatively large displacements and a broad frequency range.

Second-order terminal sliding mode control based on perturbation estimation for nanopositioning stage

open access: yesIET Cyber-systems and Robotics, 2020
This study proposes a robust second-order terminal sliding mode control with perturbation estimation (2OTSMCPE) strategy with application to trajectory tracking control of the flexure-based nanopositioning system.

Long-Stroke Nanopositioning Stage Driven by Piezoelectric Motor [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Sensors, 2014
This paper reported a biaxial nanopositioning stage single-driven by piezoelectric motor. The employed piezoelectric motor can perform two different driving modes, namely, AC drive mode to drive in long-stroke and at high-speed and DC scanning mode with the high-resolution of several nanometers, which satisfies the requirements of both long-stroke and ...

Macrophages Mediate Mesoscale Brain Mechanical Homeostasis. [PDF]

open access: yesAdv Mater
We investigated the role of infiltrating immune cells in sculpting the developing brain. Using Brillouin microscopy and active microrheology, we found microglia actively maintain tissue viscoelasticity. Moreover, colony stimulating factor one receptor (CSF1R)‐driven stromal remodeling alters brain mechanics in vivo. These findings link immune activity,

Experimental Validation of Ultra-Precision Nanopositioning System

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
In this paper, the development of an ultra-precision XY nanopositioning stage is presented. For system structure, the actuator decoupled parallel compliant mechanism is designed to have the same dynamics in both x- and y-direction so that the coupling ...

Enhanced Signal-to-Noise and Fast Calibration of Optical Tweezers Using Single Trapping Events

open access: yesMicromachines, 2021
The trap stiffness us the key property in using optical tweezers as a force transducer. Force reconstruction via maximum-likelihood-estimator analysis (FORMA) determines the optical trap stiffness based on estimation of the particle velocity from ...
