Hardening nanostructures in an AlZnMg alloy [PDF]
The formation of nanoscale and sub-nanoscale solute aggregates (clusters, Guinier–Preston zones and precipitates) in an AlZnMg alloy (Al–2.1 at.% Zn–1.5 at.% Mg) has been followed by a combination of experimental techniques with the aim of correlating the properties of the aggregates with their thermal history.

Superconductivity in Hierarchical 3D Nanostructured Pb–In Alloys
The superconducting properties of hierarchical nanostructured samples of Pb–In alloys have been studied by the measurement of dynamic susceptibility χ(T) temperature dependence. Symmetric samples with different shapes and sizes were formed on a brass metallic net by cathode-metal electrodeposition with a programmed pulsing current.

Hierarchical nanostructured aluminum alloy with ultrahigh strength and large plasticity
Strengthening a metallic alloy without sacrificing ductility remains challenging. Here, the authors develop a hierarchical nanostructured aluminium alloy composed of nanograins surrounding by metallic glass shells that has both ultrahigh strength and ...

Gradient Enhanced Strain Hardening and Tensile Deformability in a Gradient-Nanostructured Ni Alloy
Gradient-nanostructured material is an emerging category of material with spatial gradients in microstructural features. The incompatibility between gradient nanostructures (GNS) in the surface layer and coarse-grained (CG) core and their roles in extra ...

Friction and Wear Resistance of Nanostructured TiNi Shape Memory Alloy
TiNi shape memory alloys with a superelastic effect are widely used in tribological interfaces requiring high wear resistance. One of the common approaches to reducing the wear of various metals is the application of severe plastic deformation (SPD ...

Nanoengineered chiral Pt-Ir alloys for high-performance enantioselective electrosynthesis
Tremendous efforts have been made over the past decades regarding the development of materials with enantioselective properties. Here, the authors present a nanostructured chiral imprinted metal alloy that exhibits high enantioselectivity and stability ...

Aging of a nanostructured Zn50Se50 alloy produced by mechanical alloying [PDF]
The aging of a nanocrystalline equiatomic ZnSe alloy produced by mechanical alloying was investigated using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) techniques. The measured XRD patterns showed that Se atoms located at interfacial component migrated with aging giving raise to a crystalline selenium (c-Se) phase.
