The nanostructured secretome [PDF]
The term secretome should be expanded to also include the great variety of nanoparticles secreted by cells into the extracellular space, which ranges from lipoproteins of a few nanometers to extracellular vesicles of hundreds of nanometers.

Acoustic cavitation effects in sol-gel liquid processing permits to obtain nanostructured materials, with size-dependent properties. The so-called “hot spots” produce very high temperatures and pressures which act as nanoreactors. Ultrasounds force the dissolution and the reaction stars.

Fermi-Level Tuning of G-Doped Layers
Recently, geometry-induced quantum effects were observed in periodic nanostructures. Nanograting (NG) geometry significantly affects the electronic, magnetic, and optical properties of semiconductor layers.

An alloy system based on iron is described in which it has been possible to create a high density of interfaces by heat treatment alone. The resulting structure consists of a mixture of slender platelets of bainitic ferrite, just 20–40 nm in thickness, embedded in a matrix of carbon-enriched austenite.

Organic and inorganic–organic thin film structures by molecular layer deposition: A review
The possibility to deposit purely organic and hybrid inorganic–organic materials in a way parallel to the state-of-the-art gas-phase deposition method of inorganic thin films, i.e., atomic layer deposition (ALD), is currently experiencing a strongly ...

The mechanism of nanostructuring the surface of engineering parts during shot blasting
Relevance. The paper considers shot blasting, which is a widely used method for improving the surface properties of parts (such as fatigue strength, hardness, and elongation) due to cold plastic deformation, which results in nanostructuring of the ...

Optical near-field imaging and nanostructuring by means of laser ablation
In this review we consider the development of optical near-field imaging and nanostructuring by means of laser ablation since its early stages around the turn of the century.
