How robust is the ring stain for evaporating suspension droplets? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The ring stain is commonly seen when droplets containing particles, such as coffee, are left to dry on a surface: a pinned contact line leads to outward radial flow, which is enhanced by the diverging evaporative flux at the contact line.

Microstructure Formation in Freezing Nanosuspension Droplets [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters, 2018
The structural evolution of suspensions upon freezing is studied with optical microscopy in a suspended droplet configuration. Droplets have millimeter size and consist in an aqueous mixture of silica particles while the surroundings phase is hexane. Freeze-thaw cycles are applied to this system and a two-step freezing mechanism evidenced.

Theranostic nanoplatform for high‐performance dual‐modal magnetic resonance imaging‐guided therapy of orthotopic hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
This article introduces a biomimetic Mn‐doped polydopamine nanoplatform (HAMM NPs) coated with cancer cell membranes. It enables targeted hepatocellular carcinoma theranostics via T1/T2 dual‐mode magnetic resonance imaging and tumor microenvironment‐triggered sonodynamic therapy/chemodynamic therapy, achieving potent antitumor efficacy in subcutaneous ...
