Fluorogenic Sydnones for Bioorthogonal Labeling of DNA

Conjugates of sydnones with cyanine‐styryl dyes combine bioorthogonal reactivity with fluorogenicity. The reactivity with bicyclo[6.1.0]non‐4‐yne (BCN)‐modified DNA showed second‐order rate constants of up to k2 = 2,300 M−1s−1 and fluorescence turn‐on by one magnitude of order.

Charge Resonance Interaction in Aromatic Trimer Radical Cations Revealed by IR Spectroscopy: The Case of Pyrrole Homo‐ and Heterotrimers

We demonstrate the power of high‐resolution infrared spectroscopy and complementary quantum chemical calculations to unravel the evolution of the aromatic charge resonance interaction (CR) in cold trimer radical cations for the prototypical pyrrole clusters.

Stepwise Synthesis of Tetrabenzotriazaporphyrins (TBTAPs) and Their Open 2‐ and 3‐Ring Fragments

Unexpected reaction pathways to porphyrin‐phthalocyanine hybrids are uncovered by the synthesis of “half‐macrocycle” fragments and subsequent macrocyclization. Rather than the expected 2:2 “ABBA” product, the 3:1 “ABBB” hybrid is isolated as the only macrocyclic product.

Coordination Chemistry of Boron Subphthalocyanine With BINOL Derivatives: Unexpected Oxidation to Oxa[4]Helicene and Properties of the Resulting Axially Coordinated Complexes Containing Oxa[4]Helicene and/or BINOL Derivatives

Treatment of BINOL with a boron subphthalocyanine derivative resulted in the formation of a complex coordinated to an oxa[4]helicene derivative, which is generated via a ring‐closure reaction of BINOL. In contrast, treatment of the monomethyl ether of 1,1′‐bi‐2‐naphthol (BINOL) afforded the expected axially coordinated complex.
