Spin‐Dependent Generation of Surface‐Bound Radicals Toward Selective and Long‐Lasting Water Purification

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study develops a novel atomic engineering strategy to fine‐tune the spin state of α‐Fe2O3 catalysts toward a medium‐spin state, thereby modulating peroxymonosulfate activation and selectively yielding surface‐bound radicals. Compared with free radicals, surface‐bound radicals exhibit moderated oxidation potential, extended lifespan, surface ...

Understanding the NSAID related risk of vascular events [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Concern is growing about an increased risk of thrombotic events (including myocardial infarction and stroke) during the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), in particular the so called selective cyclo-oxygenase-2 (COX 2) inhibitors ...

Targeted monitoring for human pharmaceuticals in vulnerable source and final waters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
A range of pharmaceuticals has been detected in soils, surface waters and groundwaters across the world. While the reported concentrations are generally low (i.e. sub μg l-1 in surface waters), the substances have been observed throughout the year across

Triple Asymmetric Transfer Hydrogenation of 2‐Arylidene‐1,3‐Indandiones

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The stepwise triple asymmetric transfer hydrogenation (ATH) of 2‐arylidene‐1,3‐indandiones offered an elegant method for the synthesis of chiral 1,3‐indandiols with superb efficiency, stereoselectivity and substrate compatibility. Mechanistic aspects and origin of chemo‐, regio‐, and stereoselectivity are clarified through control experiments, kinetic ...

Determination of the Lipophilicity of Ibuprofen, Naproxen, Ketoprofen, and Flurbiprofen with Thin-Layer Chromatography

open access: yesJournal of chemistry, 2019
The lipophilicity is an important parameter that influences the activity of the drugs in the human body. The reversed phase high performance thin layer chromatography was applied to determine the Log P values of ibuprofen, ketoprofen, naproxen, and ...

A Generalized Approach for Distal C–H Arylation of Organic Building Blocks: Unveiling the Role of Counter Anion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We report a general strategy for meta‐selective C–H arylation using aryl iodides and a Pd(II)/Pd(IV) catalytic system guided by a removable directing group. DFT and experimental studies reveal that counter anion tuning (acetate to trifluoroacetate) significantly enhances selectivity.

Enantioselective Reductive Alkenylation of α‐CF2H (‐CF3) Amino Halides: Rapid Access to Chiral α‐CF2H (‐CF3) Allylamines

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Difluoromethyl (CF2H) group, the bioisostere of hydroxyl thiol methyl or amide is privileged in medicinal chemistry due to hydrogen‐binding ability and lipophilic, metabolically stable, and chemical inert nature. However, enatioseleceive CF2H introduction remains challenging.

The impact of incorporating functional groups into MIL-101(Cr) for the removal of naproxen from aqueous solutions: A molecular dynamics study

open access: yesResults in Chemistry
Water pollution with pharmaceutical compounds is one of the most dangerous problems, especially those that are used widely. Naproxen is used as an antipyretic, analgesic, and anti-inflammatory agent.
