Narrow-Linewidth Fano Laser

Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics, 2022
By exploiting Fano resonances, a microscopic laser with a linewidth >20 times smaller than previous microscopic lasers is experimentally demonstrated. We also show that the linewidth can be further improved by engineering the Fano lineshape.

Hybrid integrated narrow-linewidth semiconductor lasers

Applied Optics, 2023
Integrated narrow-linewidth lasers are the key devices in compact coherent optical systems of metrology, sensing, and optical microwave generation. Here, we demonstrate a hybrid integrated laser based on an optical negative feedback scheme.

Narrow-linewidth unstable resonator

Optics Letters, 1988
We describe the use of an asymmetric feedback ring in an unstable resonator to obtain arbitrarily narrow-linewidth radiation across the full available aperture. We demonstrate its use with an electric-discharge XeCl laser to produce single-line radiation with a linewidth of 0.15 cm−1.

Linewidth narrowing of polaritons

Physical Review B, 1996
Polaritons are formed when the electromagnetic field couples to excitons in a semiconductor. In their high-quality semiconductor quantum microcavities, Fisher et al. observe an unexpected decrease in the polariton linewidth (the full width at half maximum) near resonance.

Narrow linewidth quantum cascade laser

Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics, 2020
A narrow linewidth quantum cascade laser was obtained by optical feedback locking to a high finesse linear cavity with locking bandwidth larger than 5 MHz, resulting in an instantaneous linewidth at mHz levels.

Future Narrow Linewidth Lasers

Optical Fiber Communication Conference, 2015
We describe the challenges and solutions for future narrow linewidth lasers with small footprint. We fabricated DR laser array based narrower linewiedth TLS. We introduce ITXA of a co-packaged DFB array based TLS and InP-based modulator.
