Nasal mucociliary clearance in patients with diabetes mellitus
The Journal of Laryngology & Otology, 1989AbstractFifty insulin-dependent diabetics and 50 non-diabetics without a history of nasal disease have been studied for nasal problems including mucociliary function complicated by diabetes mellitus. For the diabetics, the mean value of nasal mucociliary clearance was considerably decreased and this was more often associated with dry noses but ...

The effect of vidian neurectomy on nasal mucociliary clearance
The Journal of Laryngology & Otology, 1988AbstractThe physiological factors controlling mucociliary transport are largely unknown. Nasal mucociliary clearance was measuredusing the saccharin test in seven patients who had previously undergone vidian neurectomy for vasomotor rhinitis. Persistent denervation was suggested by impaired tear secretion.

The effect of the nasal cycle on mucociliary clearance
Clinical Otolaryngology and Allied Sciences, 1999The nasal cycle is a well-recognised physiological phenomenon where each side of the nose alternates through phases of congestion and decongestion. Although many physiological properties of the nose alternate with the nasal cycle whether this has any effect on the nasal mucociliary clearance is less clear.

Delayed Nasal Mucociliary Clearance in Patients with Nonallergic Rhinitis and Nasal Eosinophilia
Allergy and Asthma Proceedings, 1992This study investigated nasal mucociliary clearance as related to nasal eosinophilia in nonallergic rhinitis patients using the technique of nasal saccharin challenge. Fifty-six consecutive patients with nonallergic rhinitis were evaluated with nasal cytology and saccharin challenge.

Evaluation of nasal mucociliary clearance in patients with psoriasis
European Archives of Oto-Rhino-LaryngologyPsoriasis is an autoimmune pathology characterized by chronic inflammation with known multiorgan involvement. In the literature, there are few studies investigating the effects of psoriasis on upper respiratory tract mucosa. Our aim in our study was to investigate the possible effect of psoriasis disease severity and duration on nasal mucosa.A study ...
