Comparison of Gemcitabine Plus Cisplatin vs. Docetaxel Plus Fluorouracil Plus Cisplatin Palliative Chemotherapy for Metastatic Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2020
Objective: Our study aimed to compare the efficacy and toxicity of two chemotherapy regimens, gemcitabine plus cisplatin (GP) vs. docetaxel plus, fluorouracil plus cisplatin (TPF), in metastatic nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) patients. Methods: We ...

Exosomes in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Cancer, 2018
Exosomes are nanosized (30-100nm) membrane microvesicles secreted through a complex cellular process. Exosomes contain a variety of bioactive molecules, such as proteins, microRNAs(miRNAs or miRs) and long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs), playing an important role in the cell-to-cell substance transportation and signal transduction.

NF-κB p65 Subunit Is Modulated by Latent Transforming Growth Factor-β Binding Protein 2 (LTBP2) in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma HONE1 and HK1 Cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
NF-kappa B is a well-characterized transcription factor, widely known as a key player in tumor-derived inflammation and cancer development. Herein, we present the functional and molecular relevance of the canonical NF-kappa B p65 subunit in ...

mTORC2 Phosphorylation of GSDME‐N Drives Cullin4B‐Mediated Proteasomal Degradation to Suppress Pyroptosis and Confer Radioresistance in Small Cell Lung Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Radioresistance severely limits the efficacy of therapies for small cell lung cancer (SCLC). This study reveals a novel mechanism of resistance driven by the active suppression of pyroptosis. Specifically, the mTORC2 complex directly phosphorylates GSDME‐N and promotes its CUL4B‐mediated ubiquitination and proteasomal degradation.

Camrelizumab and apatinib plus induction chemotherapy and concurrent chemoradiotherapy in stage N3 nasopharyngeal carcinoma: a phase 2 clinical trial

open access: yesNature Communications
The antiangiogenic agent apatinib has been shown to clinically improve responses to immune checkpoint inhibitors in several cancer types. Patients with N3 nasopharyngeal carcinoma have a high risk of distant metastasis, however, if the addition of ...

Longitudinal Trend of Health-Related Quality of Life During Concurrent Chemoradiotherapy and Survival in Patients With Stage II–IVb Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2020
Background and Aims: To investigate the longitudinal trend of health-related quality of life (HRQOL) from the start to the end of concurrent chemoradiotherapy and survival in patients with advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC).Methods: A total of 145 ...

Conventional and Novel Diagnostic Biomarkers and Approaches for Detection of Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma

open access: yes, 2019
Early detection of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is key to curing or improving the prognosis of this disease. Epstein–Barr virus (EBV) is an etiological factor for NPC, and as such, EBV and its expression products are also unique NPC biomarkers, since ...

Heat Shock Protein 90: From Molecular Chaperone Function to Therapeutic Targeting in Malignancies

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this review, an integrated conceptual framework linking HSP90's molecular chaperone functions to its pathological roles in cancer is proposed. HSP90 serves as a central node that integrates oncogenic signaling, buffers proteotoxic stress, maintains cancer stem cell plasticity, and shapes tumor‐immune interactions, all of which converge to drive ...

The mediating role of loneliness between psychological resilience and health-related quality of life among patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma: a cross-sectional study using structural equation modeling

open access: yesBMC Psychiatry
Background Cancer patients’ health-related quality of life (HRQoL) has always been a hot discussion spot. Loneliness and psychological resilience are considered to be significant psychosocial factors impacting the HRQoL of the cancer population. However,

A new prognostic histopathologic classification of nasopharyngeal carcinoma

open access: yes, 2017
Background: The current World Health Organization (WHO) classification of nasopharyngeal carcinoma ( NPC) conveys little prognostic information. This study aimed to propose an NPC histopathologic classification that can potentially be used to predict ...
