Immunogenicity and Impact on Nasopharyngeal Carriage of a Nonavalent Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine [PDF]
The safety, immunogenicity, and impact on carriage of a nonvalent pneumococcal vaccine given at ages 6, 10, and 14 weeks were examined in a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial in 500 infants in Soweto, South Africa. No serious local or systemic side effects were recorded.

Dysregulated protein modifications drive tumorigenesis. RINES, an E3 ubiquitin ligase, represses tumor cell proliferation and metastasis by facilitating RING domain‐dependent, ubiquitin–proteasome‐mediated degradation of STAT3 and MYC, which consequently restrains cancer stemness and oncogenic progression.

Artificial Intelligence‐Guided Phenotypic Drug Repurposing Against Streptococcus pneumoniae
Integrated artificial intelligence (AI) ensembles identify highly potent repurposed drugs against Streptococcus pneumoniae. Prospective virtual screening of 6747 drugs uncovers nine active candidates, including thiostrepton. This drug exhibits low picomolar potency and bypasses established resistance in multidrug‐resistant strains, demonstrating an ...

Cryo‐electron microscopy structures reveal two distinct neutralization mechanisms of fully human monoclonal antibodies targeting the Shiga toxin 1a B subunit. RDS059 occludes the Gb3 receptor‐binding site, whereas RDS045 engages a lateral quaternary epitope to disrupt holotoxin assembly.

The Stonehouse survey: nasopharyngeal carriage of meningococci and Neisseria lactamica [PDF]
SUMMARY A total of 6234 nasopharyngeal swabs was collected during a survey of the population of Stonehouse, Gloucestershire in November 1986 as part of an investigation into an outbreak of meningococcal disease. The overall meningococcal carriage rate was 10·9%.

Temozolomide treatment activates GSK3β, driving DNMT1 phosphorylation, destabilization, and CD47 promoter hypomethylation in glioblastoma. This epigenetic shift upregulates CD47, enabling TMZ‐treated GBM cells to evade macrophage phagocytosis, survive chemotherapy, and acquire resistance.

Stabilizing Functional Nucleic Acids for Real‐Sample Diagnostics
Functional nucleic acids enable programmable real‐sample diagnostics, but often lose function in complex biological matrices. This review highlights four stabilization levers—chemical, topological, architectural, and microenvironment/interface engineering—that preserve aptamer and DNAzyme performance in saliva, serum, urine, and stool, reframing ...
