SGLT2 Inhibition in Acute Myocardial Infarction—A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesReviews in Cardiovascular Medicine, 2023
In heart failure as well as in chronic kidney disease sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors have changed the landscape of medical therapy. Originally developed for use in diabetes, an unforeseen cardiovascular benefit extended SGLT2 inhibitor

Is There a Diabetes–Kidney–Heart Continuum? Perspectives From the Results of the Cardiovascular and Renal Outcome Clinical Trials With SGLT2 Inhibitors

open access: yesFrontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine, 2021
Heart failure is associated with a substantial risk of mortality and morbidity. Findings from recent cardiovascular outcome trials have shown promise for sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibitors in preventing heart failure in patients with type ...

Recent Advances in the Treatment of Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension Associated with Connective Tissue Diseases

open access: yesPharmaceuticals, 2023
Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a severe vascular complication of connective tissue diseases (CTD). Patients with CTD may develop PH belonging to diverse groups: (1) pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), (2) PH due to left heart disease, (3) secondary PH

Cysteine Redox State Governs the Condensation Pathway of Hendra Virus W Protein and Differentially Impacts Type I IFN and NF‐κB Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The cysteine redox state of the Hendra virus W (WHeV) protein controls assembly into fibrils or amorphous aggregates, with residues 2–29 required for fibrillation. In cells, WHeV forms different types of nuclear condensates. Impaired ability to form redox‐sensitive, non‐filamentous condensates reduces WHeV inhibition of the NF‐κB pathway, while it ...

Leonurine Ameliorates Doxorubicin‐Induced Cardiotoxicity via STING/NF‐κB/NLRP3 Inflammasome Signaling Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Doxorubicin‐induced cardiomyopathy (DIC) remains a dose‐limiting clinical challenge. This study reveals that cardiac vascular endothelial cells (CVECs) act as initial sensors of doxorubicin cardiotoxicity: circulating doxorubicin activates the cGAS‑STING pathway in CVECs, triggering NLRP3 inflammasome‑mediated pyroptosis and release of ...

Evaluation of coronavirus-2019-related arterial thrombosis in noncontrast spectral computed tomography with electron density imaging

open access: yesRadiology Case Reports, 2023
Thrombosis can be associated with coronavirus disease 2019 infection. Computed tomography is essential for the diagnosis of pneumonia in these patients and conventionally contrast agents are required for the assessment of thrombus.

The Antidiabetic Potential of Alpha‐Mangostin: A Review of Preclinical and Clinical Evidence

open access: yesAgriFood: Journal of Agricultural Products for Food, EarlyView.
Alpha‐mangostin is a compound from the pericarp of Garcinia mangostana. The antidiabetic effects of alpha‐mangostin include enhancing insulin secretion, improving glucose uptake through GLUT receptor upregulation, reducing oxidative stress and inflammation, promoting wound healing, reducing HbA1C, reducing HOMA‐IR index, and decreased mRNA expressions ...

Blood pressure effects of SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP‐1 receptor agonists: Mechanisms, trial evidence and Real‐world data

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP‐1 receptor agonists modestly lower blood pressure across diverse patient populations, including those without diabetes. These effects appear largely independent of glycaemic control and offer additive value in high‐risk patients with overlapping comorbidities.

Níveis NT-Pro-BNP e resposta ao exercício em pacientes com fluxo lento coronariano NT-Pro-BNP levels and their response to exercise in patients with slow coronary flow

Resistant Hypertension On Treatment (ResHypOT): sequential nephron blockade compared to dual blockade of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system plus bisoprolol in the treatment of resistant arterial hypertension – study protocol for a randomized controlled trial

open access: yesTrials, 2018
Background Resistant hypertension is characterized when the blood pressure (BP) remains above the recommended goal after taking three antihypertensive drugs with synergistic actions at their maximum recommended tolerated doses, preferably including a ...
