Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Keefektifan penggunaan Dua Jenis Ovitrap untuk Pengambilan Contoh Telur Aedes spp. di Lapangan

open access: yesJurnal Entomologi Indonesia, 2016
In the last three decades, there has been a four fold increase of dengue incidence globally. The control of the disease depends heavily on controlling the vector.

Natural law, natural philosophy, natural rights [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Who or what is the creator (and how is that we can presume to read his mind and know his intentions) and how do we know there are inalienable rights? As will become clear in the pages below, the idea of the creator is a powerful concept that permeates ...

Natural Language Ontology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The aim of natural language ontology is to uncover the ontological categories and structures that are implicit in the use of natural language, that is, that a speaker accepts when using a language.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Playing with Derivation Modes and Halting Conditions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
In the area of P systems, besides the standard maximally parallel derivation mode, many other derivation modes have been investigated, too. In this paper, many variants of hierarchical P systems and tissue P systems using different derivation modes ...

Emerging chromo-natural inflation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The shift-symmetric coupling of a pseudo-scalar particle driving inflation to gauge fields provides a unique way of probing cosmic inflation. We show for an SU(2) gauge group how a classical isotropic background gauge field develops from the standard ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
