Maintenance of natural ester transformers: case studies

2021 IEEE Conference on Electrical Insulation and Dielectric Phenomena (CEIDP), 2021
In the last two decades, the number of applications of natural esters (NE) transformers is steeply growing, requiring also proper monitoring and maintenance of the quality of the insulating liquid. Nevertheless, reference values and alert limits are not yet completely available with reference to different classes of the transformers.

Natural Ester Dielectric Fluid Development

2005/2006 PES TD, 2006
Since the early 1980s, Cooper Power Systems has been actively involved in exploring and developing ester-based dielectric fluids. Introduced in 1984, our first commercialized ester was a synthetic polyol ester, developed primarily as an environmentally acceptable Askarel substitute.

Natural ester and synthetic ester fluids, applications and maintenance

2017 10th Jordanian International Electrical and Electronics Engineering Conference (JIEEEC), 2017
These days the use of ester-based transformer fluids as an alternative to mineral oil is on the increase. The environmental and fire benefits of these fluids are being realised by more and more users, which has led to esters being used in a wide range of transformers, even up to the 400kV transmission level.

Bioactive natural derivatives of phthalate ester

Critical Reviews in Biotechnology, 2020
The advantages and emergent interest in organism-derived bioactive molecules have recently renewed scientific research attention in this field. Since 1967, about 52 different derivatives of phthalate ester (PE) have been reported from different taxonomic groups.

Dielectric properties of natural esters

2011 10th International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering, 2011
Electroinsulating materials are important and expensive parts of every electrotechnical equipment. One of the most common used electroinsulating materials are electroinsulating oils. In electrotechnical practice, the greatest utilization for mineral oils is due to their great electroinsulating features, simple accessibility and their low price ...

Synthetic Studies on Natural Diterpenoid Glyceryl Esters

Tetrahedron, 2000
Synthesis of natural bicyclic and tricyclic diterpenoid diacylglycerols has been performed by regioselective coupling of terpenoid acid with glycerol at 1'-sn position. This method may be considered a general approach to obtain optically active acylglycerols. The preparation of C-13-labelled geranylgeranoic acid glyceryl esters is also described here. (

Natural Esters and Mineral Oils Fire Behavior

2018 IEEE 2nd International Conference on Dielectrics (ICD), 2018
In recent times, the use of natural esters (vegetable fluids) in power transformers is having a considerable increase due to their advantages in terms of high flash/fire points, lower toxicity, higher biodegradability and possibility of recycling.

Validation of condition of natural esters

2016 Diagnostic of Electrical Machines and Insulating Systems in Electrical Engineering (DEMISEE), 2016
Demands on current electrical insulating systems have increasing trend toward tolerance to environmental safe conditions. This trend of course subsequently requires finding a new way in the field of application of materials compatible with the surrounding environment, e.g. easy biodegradable.
