Natural ester — Moisture and acidity issue
2016 Conference on Diagnostics in Electrical Engineering (Diagnostika), 2016Electrical insulating system is an important part of the electrical equipment. In the case of high voltage transformers, their electrical insulating system is composed of insulating oil and paper, the quality of used insulating fluid is a decisive factor for the service life and reliability of the transformer.

Electrical characteristics of natural ester based nanofluid
2017 International Electrical Engineering Congress (iEECON), 2017In this paper, the dielectric properties of natural ester based nanofluids were investigated. This research represents the improvement of the electrical properties, AC breakdown and negative lightning impulse breakdown strength, of the natural ester (FR3) by amalgamation with nanoparticles. Two types of nanoparticles i.e., Titanium dioxide (TiO 2 ) and

Practical Experience of Natural Esters Quality Maintenance
2020 IEEE Electrical Insulation Conference (EIC), 2020Nowadays, the environmental requirements in the electrical industry have increased. Natural Esters are one of the alternatives to replace mineral oils in power and distribution transformers due to their high biodegradability and environmental clearness in general.

Modified natural ester — prospective electrical insulating liquid
2017 IEEE 19th International Conference on Dielectric Liquids (ICDL), 2017Natural oils are divided into vegetable and mineral oils. Compared with vegetable oils, the mineral oils show better dielectric properties, however, they can be dangerous for the living environment and their flammability is higher. The vegetable oils are composed of natural ester molecules with a triacylglycerol structure.

Natural ester fluid: The transformer design perspective
2010 IEEE/PES Transmission and Distribution Conference and Exposition: Latin America (T&D-LA), 2010This paper presents the perspective of employ natural ester fluid to high voltage and high power transformers. Some studies that have been done in the literature about the dielectric characteristics of natural ester fluid point to some differences, mainly in streamer propagation and long gap distance tests, when compared to mineral oil. However, all of

Long gap breakdown of natural ester fluid
2010 International Conference on High Voltage Engineering and Application, 2010Dielectric breakdown values were measured in 50– 150 mm gaps in natural ester fluid and mineral oil. The tests included 50/60 Hz and 1.2×50 µs lightning impulse using negative and positive polarities. The voltage levels attained by natural ester fluid compare closely with mineral oil and would support the use of natural ester fluid in transformers ...

GAS CHROMATOGRAPHIC FRACTIONATION OF NATURAL STERYL ESTER MIXTURES
Canadian Journal of Biochemistry, 1964Synthetic and naturally occurring mixtures of fatty acid esters of cholesterol and plant sterols were separated by gas chromatography under the conditions previously described for triglyceride fractionation. The separations obtained were based primarily on the molecular weight or carbon number of the material, a difference of one methylene unit either ...

Improving Transformer Safety with Natural Ester Fluids
Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Conference and Exhibition, 2012Abstract For over one hundred years, petroleum based mineral oil has been used in liquid filled transformers. Today, over a million tons of transformer oils are annually purchased worldwide. The popularity of mineral transformer oil has mainly been built on its availability and low cost.
