A Hydrogen Sulfide–Releasing Dynamic Hydrogel Modulates Coordinated Neurovascular, Immune, and Angiogenic Responses for Scar‐Suppressed Diabetic Wound Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ROS‐Responsive H2S Hydrogel (HAPPF) Coordinated Regeneration for High‐Quality Diabetic Wound Repair.A self‐regulating dynamic hydrogel is developed to deliver a fluorogenic H2S donor in response to excessive ROS. Released H2S acts as a master regulator to resolve chronic inflammation (M2 polarization), restore VEGF‐driven angiogenesis, and rebalance ...

God is Not the Creator of Evil

open access: yes, 2022
One of the most important issues in the history of thought is the problem of evil. It has always been a problem for theists to reconcile an omnipotent, omniscient and absolutely good being with the evils that occur in the universe.

Explaining the Origin of Negative Poisson's Ratio in Amorphous Networks With Machine Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
This review summarizes how machine learning (ML) breaks the “vicious cycle” in designing auxetic amorphous networks. By transitioning from traditional “black‐box” optimization to an interpretable “AI‐Physics” closed‐loop paradigm, ML is shown to not only discover highly optimized structures—such as all‐convex polygon networks—but also unveil hidden ...

Mediating the Morals of Disasters: Hurricane Katrina in Norwegian News Media

open access: yesNordic Journal of Science and Technology Studies, 2014
The Norwegian media responses to Hurricane Katrina were structured around three well-established sets of motifs in a globalized late modern disaster discourse: 1) The collapse of civil society, 2) Social vulnerability 2) Extreme weather and global ...

‘Turkeys Cannot Vote for Christmas’: Why Epistemic Disobedience in an Anti‐Black World Matters

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Social Issues, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Never in the history of global coloniality has the idea of epistemic disobedience been as important as in the 21st century. This is not only because the struggle for decolonisation has shifted from physical confrontation between the coloniser and the colonised into a battle of ideas but also because the former has deployed the idea of ...

A New Defence against the Problem of Evil

open access: yesReligions
In this paper, I propose a defence against the problem of evil. This defence does not involve either free will or soul-making, but, rather, is intended as a replacement for the traditional theodicies.

Why William Rowe’s Argument from Natural Evil Fails

open access: yes, 2015
Atheists in the vein of William Rowe have put forth arguments suggesting that the presence of evil counts against the existence of God. In particular, Rowe has advanced two lines of reasoning for his position, one being taken from an actual historical ...

Selenium Nanomaterials for Wound Healing: Synergistic Strategies from Anti‐Infection to Tissue Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
Selenium nanoparticles (SeNPs) are emerging as multifunctional platforms for wound healing, integrating antimicrobial, anti‐inflammatory, and proregenerative activities. This review summarises key mechanisms and recent advances in SeNP‐enabled composite dressings, immunomodulatory nanocomposites, microenvironment‐responsive hydrogels, photothermal and ...

Description of large, well‐preserved Enchodus specimens from the Bearpaw Formation of Alberta, Canada

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Fishes of the genus Enchodus were abundant and cosmopolitan in the Late Cretaceous, but are primarily known from isolated remains in Canada. Four well‐preserved fish skulls were recovered in recent years from ammolite mines sampling the Bearpaw Formation of Southern Alberta, and are here referred to Enchodus petrosus Cope, 1874.

Inordinatio Boni

open access: yesTheoLogica
If God is the origin of all being, but is not the origin of evil, it must follow that evil is not a being. That is, evil has no positive existence. As such, evil is always a parasitic absence of the good; its sting lies in the deprivation of some good ...
