Abstract The natural frequency of machine parts as related to the noise problem in machine operation is discussed in a general manner. Vibration phenomena in disks and rings are described in detail, following which the author discusses the manner in which a gear vibrates at its natural frequency.

Natural Frequencies in Sexual Pelvic Thrusting
Integrative And Comparative BiologySynopsis Seventy percent of mammals copulate using repeated pelvic thrusting, while the transfer of sperm requires just a single intromission. Why did thrusting evolve to be the dominant form of sexual intercourse? In this study, we investigate how the rate of sexual pelvic thrusting changes with body size.

Natural Frequencies, an Approximation
2004Generally, when calculating the natural frequencies of complex dynamic linear systems the finite element analysis method is applied. However, it is good practice to first apply a method to approximately calculate the natural frequency of that system to get a feel for the value of the natural frequency.

Natural hybridization: Frequency
1997Abstract As discussed in Chapter ], numerous investigators have used natural hybridiza tion as a tool for studying phenomena that may cause population divergence and speciation (i.e., the formation of ban-iers to reproduction; Barton and Charlesworth, 1984; Coyne and Barton, 1988; Hewitt, 1988; Barton and Hewitt, 1989).
