Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Natural Braneworld Inflation in Light of Recent Results from Planck and BICEP2

open access: yes, 2014
In this paper we report on a major theoretical observation in cosmology. We present a concrete cosmological model for which inflation has natural beginning and natural ending.

On the Tuning and the Mass of the Composite Higgs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We analyze quantitatively the tuning of composite Higgs models with partial compositeness and its interplay with the predicted Higgs mass. In this respect we identify three classes of models, characterized by different quantum numbers of the fermionic ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Enraizamento in vitro de mirtilo em condições fotoautotróficas In vitro rooting of blueberry under photoautotrophic conditions

Magnetic properties and entanglement in antiferromagnetic interactions in copper(II) dinuclear and trinuclear complexes

open access: yesScientific Reports
In this work, the synthesis, structural characterization, and magnetic properties of a series of dinuclear and trinuclear antiferromagnetic copper (II) complexes with different bridging ligands are studied.

Supersymmetry, naturalness and light higgsinos [PDF]

open access: yesIndian Journal of Physics, 2014
We compare and contrast three different sensitivity measures, $ _{EW}^{-1}$, $ _{HS}^{-1}$ and $ _{BG}^{-1}$ that have been used in discussions of fine-tuning. We argue that though not a fine-tuning measure, $ _{EW}$, which is essentially determined by the particle spectrum, is important because $ _{EW}^{-1}$ quantifies the minimum fine-tuning ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

A Study on Light Transmission through Porcelain and Exhibition

open access: yesArt Vision
Porcelain, a type of ceramic, has unique structural and visual properties with its whiteness, light transmission and thinness. These properties of the material not only determine its aesthetic value, but also affect the visual experience in exhibition ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.
