Ventilatory and heart rate responses to hypoxia in pre‐ and post‐menopausal ethnically Tibetan women residing at ∼3800 m in Mustang, Nepal

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Tibetan women livingat high altitude exhibit distinct physiological traits that can enhance oxygen transport in chronic hypoxia. Menopausal status influences cardiopulmonary responses to hypoxia in women living at low altitudes.

Radiation‐Induced Skin Injury in Cancer Radiotherapy: From Mechanisms to Management

open access: yesAdvanced Oncology, Volume 1, Issue 1, December 2026.
Radiation‐induced skin injuries (RISI) remain a significant challenge faced by cancer patients receiving radiotherapy (RT). This perspective article examines the pathophysiology of RISI and evaluates the currently existing and emerging therapeutic strategies, including stem cell‐derived exosomes and advanced hydrogels.

Assessment of Phytochemical Compounds and Antioxidant Potential of West Indian Avocado (Persea americana) Peel From Substandard‐Quality Fruits as a Valorisation Strategy

open access: yesPhytochemicals in Food and Medicine, Volume 1, Issue 4, December 2026.
West Indian avocado peels discarded because of low‐commercial‐quality were evaluated as a source of bioactive compounds. Avocado peels contained high levels of phenolic compounds and showed strong antioxidant capacity. These results support avocado peel valorisation within functional foods, circular and sustainable food systems.

Chios Mastic in Well‐Controlled Hypertension: Findings From the HYPER‐MASTIC Randomized Controlled Trial

open access: yesPharmacology Research &Perspectives, Volume 14, Issue 6, December 2026.
ABSTRACT Residual cardiovascular risk persists in patients with adequately controlled hypertension, driven partly by inflammation, oxidative stress and endothelial dysfunction. Chios mastic (Pistacia lentiscus var. Chia) has shown antihypertensive, antioxidant and vascular effects in experimental and clinical settings.

Genetic control underlying dynamics of blueberry bioactive compounds during postharvest can drive breeding for functional fruits

open access: yesThe Plant Genome, Volume 19, Issue 4, December 2026.
Abstract Blueberries (Vaccinium spp.) are widely recognized as a superfruit due to their high content health‐promoting bioactive compounds, including flavonoids and phenolic acids. While these metabolites provide significant health benefits, their postharvest stability and implications for shelf life are not well characterized, a fact that is essential

Tropical Plantains, Tubers, and Roots: Advancing Food Quality, Safety, and Processing Innovations for Global Nutritional Equity

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 11, November 2026.
Plantains, tubers, and roots (PTRs) represent strategic nutritional and caloric pillars for over 500 million people across tropical regions. This review evaluates traditional bioprocessing against eco‐innovative thermomechanical and non‐thermal technologies (HPP, extrusion, encapsulation) to overcome severe post‐harvest losses and antinutritional risks.
