Good soil: a good start [PDF]

open access: yes
Soil plays a central role in plant production and the environment. Organic growers depend on the soil’s natural richness and resistance to disease. In order to foster these essential qualities, farmers and researchers are looking at ways to stimulate ...

Improved quality and disease management in diverse populations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Improved biodiversity is one of the key principles in organic farming and therefore organic plant breeding seeks alternatives to the currently dominant pureline monocultures.

Interaction between Molten Al‐Killed Mn–B Steel and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐temperature interactions between low‐sulfur Al‐killed Mn–B steel and MgO–C refractories (0 and 50 wt% recyclates) are studied via finger immersion tests (1600 °C). Surface‐active elements influence infiltration. MgO/CaS layer forms, along with spinel and calcium silicate.

Interaction of myricetin, ampelopsin (dihydromyricetin), and their sulfate metabolites with serum albumin, cytochrome P450 (CYP2C9, 2C19, and 3A4) enzymes, and organic anion‐transporting polypeptides (OATP1B1 and OATP2B1)

open access: yesPharmacology Research & Perspectives
Myricetin (MYR) and ampelopsin (AMP, or dihydromyricetin) are flavonoid aglycones found in certain plants and dietary supplements. During the presystemic biotransformation of flavonoids, mainly sulfate and glucuronide derivatives are produced, which are ...

Advancements in breeding Fusarium resistant vanilla varieties using Next Generation Sequencing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Demand for natural vanilla flavor is increasing, but the cultivated Vanilla planifolia faces critical challenges in response to biotic and abiotic stresses. In particular, Root and Stem Rot (RSR) disease caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp.

A Thermodynamic 3D Model for the Simulation of Diffusion‐Controlled Alloying Processes in Heterogeneous Material Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A numerical model resulting from irreversible thermodynamics for describing transport processes is introduced, focusing on thermodynamic activity gradients as the actual driving force for diffusion. Implemented in CUDA C++ and using CalPhaD methods for determining the necessary activity data, the model accurately simulates interdiffusion in aluminum ...

Transition metal homoeostasis is key to metabolism and drug tolerance of Mycobacterium abscessus

open access: yesnpj Antimicrobials and Resistance
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is one of the major challenges humans are facing this century. Understanding the mechanisms behind the rise of AMR is therefore crucial to tackling this global threat.
