The effect of pressure on wax deposition from wax-solvent mixtures with natural gas

Journal of Petroleum Science and Engineering, 2018
Abstract Wax deposition occurs when the temperature of the pipe wall falls below the wax appearance temperature. This deposition reduces the effective flow area of the pipelines, leading to a significant pressure drop, which increases the transportation consumption and leads eventually to complete blockage.

On Natural Waxes XIV: Gas Chromatography of Wax Esters – A Preliminary Note

Fette, Seifen, Anstrichmittel, 1970
AbstractThe application of high‐temperature chromatography to the analysis of wax esters is described. Esters with up to 60 carbon atoms can be analyzed on the silicone OV‐1 after appropriate modification of the chromatographic column. The method offers possibilities of direct analysis of esters without preceding hydrolysis, thus enabling more detailed

An investigation of the structures and molecular dynamics of natural waxes. II. Carnauba wax

Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 1988
For pt.I see ibid., vol.21, p.1421 (1988). Structural aspects and the molecular dynamics of carnauba wax are reported. X-ray diffraction results show that it crystallises in an orthorhombic unit cell. DSC and proton spin-lattice measurements as a function of temperature revealed a premelting solid-solid transition at 335 K.

Chromatographic isolation of the original constituents of natural waxes. The composition of ouricuri wax

Journal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, 1960
SummaryA chromatographic method was developed which separated a known mixture of alleged wax constituents into four groups, viz., dotriacontane, octadecyl stearate and stearone, octadecanol, and stearic acid on especially prepared alumina. This adsorbent, when prepared fresh, did not give a satisfactory separation of spermaceti wax.

The Chemistry of Sugar-Cane Wax. I. The Nature of Sugar-Cane Wax

Australian Journal of Chemistry, 1960
Distillation of sugar-cane cuticle wax under reduced pressure gives a high yield of long-chain aldehydes, which are considered to occur in the wax in polymeric form. The products obtained from the wax under normal saponification conditions are apparently produced from the aldehydes by a Cannizzaro reaction, and by aldol condensation with subsequent ...

NATURAL AND APPLIED WAX COATINGS ON ORANGES

Journal of Food Processing and Preservation, 1985
Scanning electron microscopy was used to examine the wax coating on oranges. The natural wax platelets are irregular in shape and size, have a rough surface and increase in numbers as the orange matures. Most natural platelets can be removed by dipping the orange in a chloroform-methanol solution and rubbing the surface.
