Dopamine receptor antagonists and corticosteroids are used as anti-emetics for chemotherapy induced nausea and vomiting. Recently, a highly selective 5-HT3 receptor antagonist are proved to demonstrate antiemetic activity.

Nausea and vomiting

Current Treatment Options in Gastroenterology, 2008
Nausea and vomiting are symptoms resulting from a triggered emetic reflex. Many endogenous and exogenous triggering factors can activate the emetic reflex, making understanding difficult and therapy challenging. The key to managing most cases of nausea and vomiting lies in a good history and a detailed physical examination.

Nausea and Vomiting

2010
The introduction of two new classes of antiemetics, the 5 hydroxytryptamine 3 receptor antagonists (5HT3 RAs) and the neurokinin1 receptor antagonists (NK1 RAs) have revolutionised the treatment of post-chemotherapy acute and delayed nausea and vomiting, and this in turn has decreased the incidence of anticipatory emesis.
