Bronchoscopic staging of lung cancer

open access: yesTherapeutic Advances in Respiratory Disease, 2013
Advances in bronchoscopy have contributed valuable tools to the diagnosis and staging of lung cancer. Detection of lesions at the premalignant microscopic stage has become possible with autofluorescence bronchoscopy and narrow band imaging.

Diagnostic Performance of Radial EBUS‐Guided Cryobiopsy for Peripheral Lung Lesions: First Experience in Morocco

open access: yesThe Clinical Respiratory Journal, Volume 20, Issue 7, July 2026.
Radial EBUS‐guided transbronchial cryobiopsy using a 1.1‐mm cryoprobe achieved a 75.3% diagnostic yield for peripheral lung lesions in 73 patients, with no severe hemorrhage. Protocolized balloon blocker use effectively controlled all bleeding events, supporting cryobiopsy as a feasible, safe alternative to conventional forceps biopsy.

Role of electromagnetic navigational bronchoscopy in pulmonary nodule management

open access: yes, 2016
The incidence of pulmonary nodules and lung cancer is rising. Some of this increase in incidence is due to improved pick up by newer imaging modalities.

Association of baseline screening results and management with subsequent adherence in the Korean national lung cancer screening program

open access: yesJournal of Internal Medicine, Volume 300, Issue 1, Page 51-63, July 2026.
Abstract Background Adherence to subsequent lung cancer screening (LCS) is essential but not well characterized in biennial national programs. Objectives To assess whether baseline LCS results and their management are associated with subsequent screening adherence and clinical outcomes.

Automated Centerline Extraction From Meshed Vascular Models

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Biomedical Engineering, Volume 42, Issue 6, June 2026.
A method to extract centerlines from image‐based vascular meshes is presented, which automatically identifies vascular endpoints and traces centerlines by solving Eikonal equations. Compared to a widely used method, the proposed approach requires less user interaction and demonstrates better robustness on models that contain segmentation artifacts from

Removal of a Fishhook‐Shaped Foreign Body in the Bronchus and Literature Review

open access: yesRespirology Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2026.
Fishhook‐shaped bronchial foreign bodies are rare and difficult to remove. We report a case of a fishhook‐shaped foreign body in the basal segment of the right lower lobe removed via rigid bronchoscopy combined with flexible bronchoscopy. The value of the combined use of rigid and flexible bronchoscopy for foreign body removal is emphasised.
