Near surface mounted FRP reinforcement for strengthening of concrete structures

open access: yesPeriodica Polytechnica Civil Engineering, 2007
This paper is based on literature review regarding fibre reinforced polymers (FRP) used as near surface mounted (NSM) reinforcement for strengthening of concrete structures. Strengthening of structures is a complex task. Different systems can be used in order to utilize the fibre reinforced polymer in the most efficient way.

1.65 micrometers (H-band) surface photometry of galaxies. III: observations of 558 galaxies with the TIRGO 1.5m telescope

open access: yes, 1999
We present near-infrared H-band (1.65 micron) surface photometry of 558 galaxies in the Coma Supercluster and in the Virgo cluster. This data set, obtained with the Arcetri NICMOS3 camera ARNICA mounted on the Gornergrat Infrared Telescope, is aimed at ...

Arching in concrete slabs strengthened with near surface mounted fibre reinforced polymers [PDF]

open access: yesEngineering Structures, 2019
Abstract This paper outlines basalt fibre reinforced polymer (BFRP) and carbon fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP) strengthening of laterally restrained concrete floor slabs. In-plane restraint has previously been shown to enhance slab capacity due to the development of internal compressive membrane action (CMA), which is not generally included in ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Serviceability limit state of two-way reinforced concrete slab strengthened with different techniques

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
The experimental results for service load of sixteen simply supported two way reinforced concrete slabs under the action of concentrated patch load were determined based on the amount of permissible deflections and the crack widths. All the slabs had the ...
