Regularization matrices determined by matrix nearness problems [PDF]
This paper is concerned with the solution of large-scale linear discrete ill-posed problems with error-contaminated data. Tikhonov regularization is a popular approach to determine meaningful approximate solutions of such problems.

Near-optimal blacklisting [PDF]
Many applications involve agents sharing a resource, such as networks or services. When agents are honest, the system functions well and there is a net profit. Unfortunately, some agents may be malicious, but it may be hard to detect them. We consider the intrusion response problem of how to permanently blacklist agents, in order to maximise expected ...

Uniformities and covering properties for partial frames (II) [PDF]
This paper is a continuation of [Uniformities and covering properties for partial frames (I)], in which we make use of the notion of a partial frame, which is a meet-semilattice in which certain designated subsets are required to have joins, and finite ...

Quotient Nearrings of Similinear Nearrings
Let \(\mathbb{R}\) denote the field of reals. Given a continuous map \(\lambda\colon\mathbb{R}^n\to\mathbb{R}\) put \(v*w:=\lambda(v)w\). Then \(N_\lambda(\mathbb{R}^n)=(\mathbb{R}^n,+,*)\) is a topological nearring iff \(\lambda(av)=a\lambda(v)\) for all \(a\) in the range of \(\lambda\), and for all \(v\in\mathbb{R}^n\).
