Evolution of Cosmic Necklaces and Lattices

open access: yes, 2010
Previously developed analytic models for the evolution of cosmic string and monopole networks are applied to networks of monopoles attached to two or more strings; the former case is usually known as cosmic necklaces.

Ultra High Energy Cosmic Rays from Cosmological Relics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
The current status of origin of Ultra High Energy Cosmic Rays (UHECR) is reviewed, with emphasis given to elementary particle solutions to UHECR problem, namely to Topological Defects and Super-Heavy Dark Matter (SHDM) particles.

Using Convolutional Neural Networks for the Classification of Suboptimal Chest Radiographs

open access: yesJournal of Medical Radiation Sciences, EarlyView.
This study evaluated DenseNet121 and YOLOv8 neural networks in detecting suboptimal chest x‐rays for quality control. Through training, validation, and testing, both AI models effectively classified chest X‐ray quality, highlighting the potential to provide radiographers with feedback to enhance image quality.

A combinatorial model for the free loop fibration

open access: yes, 2018
We introduce the abstract notion of a closed necklical set in order to describe a functorial combinatorial model of the free loop fibration $\Omega Y\rightarrow \Lambda Y\rightarrow Y$ over the geometric realization $Y=|X|$ of a path connected simplicial

Uncovering the Complexity of Synucleinopathies: An Ongoing Tale Between Proteins and Lipids

open access: yesMovement Disorders, EarlyView.
Abstract Neurodegenerative diseases are pathological states characterized by progressive alterations in brain homeostasis during aging. Synucleinopathies, including Parkinson's disease and dementia with Lewy bodies, are defined neuropathologically by the accumulation of inclusions known as Lewy bodies and Lewy neurites.

Ultra high energy cosmic rays from cosmological relics

open access: yes, 1998
Ultra High Energy Cosmic Rays (UHECR) can be a signal from very early (post-inflationary) Universe. At this cosmological epoch Topological Defects (TD) and long-lived suprheavy (SH) particles are expected to be naturally and effectively produced. Both of

Regulatory mechanisms of reproduction in locusts and grasshoppers

open access: yesNew Plant Protection, EarlyView.
Regulatory networks composed of numerous coding and noncoding genes play crucial roles in the reproduction of locusts and grasshoppers. This review integrates mechanistic advances in reproductive regulation, highlighting environmentally adaptive pathways and providing prospective targets for eco‐friendly pesticides.

The role of derivative instruments in interest risks decrease [PDF]

open access: yesAnali Ekonomskog fakulteta u Subotici, 2018
This paper looks at a specific side of market risk, called interest risk, and how banks can control the risk coming from certain interest positions, by using derivative instruments.

Numerical simulations of necklaces in SU(2) gauge-Higgs field theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We perform the first numerical simulations of necklaces in a non-Abelian gauge theory. Necklaces are composite classical solutions which can be interpreted as monopoles trapped on strings, rather generic structures in a Grand Unified Theory.

Revitalizing endangered mycocultural heritage in Mesoamerica: The case of the Tlahuica‐Pjiekakjoo culture

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
The preservation and revitalization of mycocultural heritage, developed over centuries of human‐mushroom interaction, contributes to safeguarding both natural ecosystems and the promotion of sustainable rural development, one of the biggest global challenges currently faced by humankind.
