Monte Carlo modeling of radiation dose from radiation therapy with superficial x‐rays

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Introduction Superficial x‐rays (50–100 kVp) are used for treating non‐melanoma skin cancer and intraoperative radiation therapy (IORT). At these energies, the photoelectric effect significantly increases absorbed dose to bone compared to soft tissue.

Effects of simultaneous multislice acceleration on the stability of radiomics features in parametric maps of IVIM and DKI in uterine cervical cancer

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of the simultaneous multislice acceleration (SMS) technique as well as two‐dimensional (2D) and three‐dimensional (3D) tumor segmentations on radiomics features (RFs) within the parametric maps of cervical cancer, which were computed by intravoxel incoherent motion (IVIM) and ...

Reaction-Diffusion Models for Glioma Tumor Growth [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
Mathematical modelling of tumor growth is one of the most useful and inexpensive approaches to determine and predict the stage, size and progression of tumors in realistic geometries. Moreover, these models has been used to get an insight into cancer growth and invasion and in the analysis of tumor size and geometry for applications in cancer treatment

Stereotactic radiosurgery for multiple small brain metastases using gamma knife versus single‐isocenter VMAT: Normal brain dose based on lesion number and size

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose The study evaluates rapid linear accelerator (Linac) single isocenter stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) with Hyperarc for large target numbers. We compared to Gamma Knife (GK), which suffers from long treatment times and investigated causes of differences. Methods Linac SRS and GK treatment plans for patients receiving 18 Gy to the gross

Signalisation apototique induite par les LDL oxydées Implication dans l’athérosclérose

open access: yesOléagineux, Corps gras, Lipides, 2006
The balance between vascular cell proliferation vs apoptosis plays a key role in vessel wall remodeling. Intimal migration and proliferation of smooth muscle cells (SMC), and secretion of extracellular matrix are involved in fibrous cap formation and ...

A Topological Data Analysis Framework for Quantifying Necrosis in Glioblastomas [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
In this paper, we introduce a shape descriptor that we call "interior function". This is a Topological Data Analysis (TDA) based descriptor that refines previous descriptors for image analysis. Using this concept, we define subcomplex lacunarity, a new index that quantifies geometric characteristics of necrosis in tumors such as conglomeration ...
