The role of histone modifications in transcription regulation upon DNA damage

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review discusses the critical role of histone modifications in regulating gene expression during the DNA damage response (DDR). By modulating chromatin structure and recruiting repair factors, these post‐translational modifications fine‐tune transcriptional programmes to maintain genomic stability.

Ternary Logics Based on 2D Ferroelectric-Incorporated 2D Semiconductor Field Effect Transistors

open access: yesFrontiers in Materials, 2022
Ternary logic has been proven to carry an information ratio 1.58 times that of binary logic and is capable to reduce circuit interconnections and complexity of operations.

Anomalously large capacitance of a plane capacitor with a two-dimensional electron gas

open access: yes, 2012
In electronic devices where a two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) comprises one or both sides of a plane capacitor, the resulting capacitance $C$ can be larger than the "geometric capacitance" $C_g$ determined by the physical separation $d$ between ...

Survivin and Aurora Kinase A control cell fate decisions during mitosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aurora A interacts with survivin during mitosis and regulates its centromeric role. Loss of Aurora A activity mislocalises survivin, the CPC and BubR1, leading to disruption of the spindle checkpoint and triggering premature mitotic exit, which we refer to as ‘mitotic slippage’.

Numerical Investigations of Nanowire Gate-All-Around Negative Capacitance GaAs/InN Tunnel FET

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
We demonstrated a nanowire gate-all-around (GAA) negative capacitance (NC) tunnel field-effect transistor (TFET) based on the GaAs/InN heterostructure using TCAD simulation.

The effect of electron dielectric response on the quantum capacitance of graphene in a strong magnetic field

open access: yes, 2013
The quantum capacitance of graphene can be negative when the graphene is placed in a strong magnetic field, which is a clear experimental signature of positional correlations between electrons.

Liquid biopsy epigenetics: establishing a molecular profile based on cell‐free DNA

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) fragments in plasma from cancer patients carry epigenetic signatures reflecting their cells of origin. These epigenetic features include DNA methylation, nucleosome modifications, and variations in fragmentation. This review describes the biological properties of each feature and explores optimal strategies for harnessing cfDNA ...

Ferroelectricity of HfZrO2 in Energy Landscape With Surface Potential Gain for Low-Power Steep-Slope Transistors

open access: yesIEEE Journal of the Electron Devices Society, 2015
The corresponding energy landscape and surface potential are deduced from the experimental ferroelectricity of HfZrO2 (HZO) for low-power steep-slope transistor applications.

On the relation between electrical and electro-optical properties of tunnelling injection quantum dot lasers

open access: yesNanophotonics, 2023
We present a comprehensive study of the temperature dependent electronic and optoelectronic properties of a tunnelling injection quantum dot laser. The optical power-voltage (P opt–V) characteristics are shown to be correlated with the current-voltage (I–

A Novel Vertical Si TFET With Dual Doping-Less Tunneling Junction: A Simulation Study Including Trap-Related Non-Idealities

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2023
In this article, we propose a novel vertical TFET that benefits from dual doping-less tunneling junction. Due to the low on-state current of silicon-based TFETs, we employ a dual-source configuration and a high-k dielectric material in the oxide region ...
