Ammonia and Nematode Ascaroside Are Synergistic in Trap Formation in Arthrobotrys oligospora

open access: yesPathogens, 2023
Nematode-trapping (NT) fungi are natural predators of the soil living nematodes. Diverse external signals mediate the generation of predatory devices of NT fungi.

Alternative management strategies to prevent and control endo-parasite diseases in sheep and goat farming systems - a review of the recent scientific knowledge [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Infestation with gastro-intestinal nematodes (GIN) in small ruminants can cause server economic losses and endanger animal welfare. The development of organic farming systems, the increased public awareness for drug residues in agricultural products and ...

A systematic review on research trends and commercialised entomopathogenic nematodes: A global perspective

open access: yesAgricultural and Forest Entomology, EarlyView.
Out of 136 identified EPNs, only 18 (8 Steinernema and 6 Heterorhabditis) are commercialised globally, highlighting a major gap between discovery and application. High production costs and inconsistent field efficacy are the leading obstacles to the widespread commercialisation of EPN‐based biocontrol products.

Functional Analysis of Two Affinity cAMP Phosphodiesterases in the Nematode-Trapping Fungus Arthrobotrys oligospora

open access: yesPathogens, 2022
Phosphodiesterases are essential regulators of cyclic nucleotide signaling with diverse physiological functions. Two phosphodiesterases, PdeH and PdeL, have been identified from yeast and filamentous fungi.

A Fusarium sacchari Glycoside Hydrolase 12 Protein FsEG1 Is a Major Virulence Factor During Sugarcane Infection and Confers Resistance to Pokkah Boeng Disease via the HIGS Strategy

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Pokkah Boeng disease (PBD), caused by Fusarium sacchari, has severely impacted the yield and quality of sugarcane, resulting in significant economic losses. However, the molecular interaction mechanisms between F. sacchari and sugarcane remain poorly understood.

An inquiry‐based activity to teach about insects of medico‐legal importance: Lessons from Redi's landmark experiment

open access: yesNatural Sciences Education, Volume 55, Issue 1, June 2026.
Abstract In this article, we describe an inquiry‐based teaching activity developed in a public high school in Brazil. The objectives were to (a) develop an experimental activity grounded on the students’ autonomy for formulating and testing hypotheses, (b) address Biology topics from a historical and multidisciplinary perspective, (c) stimulate skills ...

Problems in the control of nematode parasites of small ruminants in Malaysia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Nematode parasitic disease, attributed mainly Haemonchus contortus, is the greatest disease problem of small ruminants in Malaysia. This thesis comprises 6 studies on the emergence of anthelmintic resistance in these parasites, and how control may be ...

Amphiphysin AoRvs167-Mediated Membrane Curvature Facilitates Trap Formation, Endocytosis, and Stress Resistance in Arthrobotrys oligospora

open access: yesPathogens, 2022
Bin1/Amphiphysin/Rvs (BAR) domain-containing proteins mediate fundamental cellular processes, including membrane remodeling and endocytosis. Nematode-trapping (NT) fungi can differentiate to form trapping structures through highly reorganized cell ...
