Serum cytokine levels in breast cancer patients during neoadjuvant treatment with bevacizumab

open access: yesOncoImmunology, 2018
A high concentration of circulating vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in cancer patients is associated with an aggressive tumor phenotype. Here, serum levels of 27 cytokines and blood cell counts were assessed in breast cancer patients receiving ...

Cost-effectiveness of primary debulking surgery when compared to neoadjuvant chemotherapy in the management of stage IIIC and IV epithelial ovarian cancer. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
ObjectivesTo examine the cost-effectiveness of primary debulking surgery (PDS) when compared to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) in the management of epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) using Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results data linked to Medicare

T Cell Exhaustion in Cancer Immunotherapy: Heterogeneity, Mechanisms, and Therapeutic Opportunities

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
T cell exhaustion limits immunotherapy efficacy. This article delineates its progression from stem‐like to terminally exhausted states, governed by persistent antigen, transcription factors, epigenetics, and metabolism. It maps the exhaustion landscape in the TME and proposes integrated reversal strategies, providing a translational roadmap to overcome

The ITGB2‐COPS3‐SOX2 Axis and SOX2 Liquid‐Liquid Phase Separation: Dual Mechanisms Governing Osteosarcoma Stemness

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Osteosarcoma stemness is driven by the ITGB2‐COPS3‐SOX2 signaling axis. This study reveals that nuclear COPS3 stabilizes SOX2, which in turn undergoes liquid‐liquid phase separation to promote stemness. Based on this mechanism, a novel COPS3 inhibitor, Z‐5891, was developed, effectively suppressing tumor growth and stemness in vivo, offering a ...

Vorinostat Potentiates Chemoimmunotherapy in Immune‐Enriched Pancreatic Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Immune‐enriched pancreatic cancer does not confer a significant survival advantage. SAHA sensitizes these “hot” tumors to chemoimmunotherapy by disrupting a FASN/PARP9‐driven “metabolic trap” and enhancing CD8+ T cell function. A CD8high/FASNhigh/PARP9high signature identifies patients who are most likely to benefit from the “gemcitabine‐nivolumab‐SAHA”

Variability in the reported management of pulmonary metastases in osteosarcoma. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Nearly 20% of patients with newly diagnosed osteosarcoma have detectable metastases at diagnosis; the majority of which occur in the lungs. There are no established recommendations for the timing and modality of metastasectomy.

BZW1 Drives Immune Evasion in Lung Adenocarcinoma via Ferroptosis Suppression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
BZW1 attenuates ferroptosis by competitively binding NCOA4 and suppress ferrtinophagy‐mediated iron release. The depletion of BZW1 triggers lipid peroxidation through iron homeostasis. Extracellularly, BZW1 attenuates immunogenic cell death and reinvigorates cytotoxic T‐cell responses.
