Seasonal Neonatal Hyperbilirubinemia
Pediatrics, 1969A seasonal variation in the incidence of neonatal nonhemolytic, unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia has been observed in a small, predominantly agricultural community. A total of 3,096 records, representing all newborns delivered during a 4-year period (1963-1966) in one local hospital and during an overlapping 3-year period (1964-1966) in another, were ...

Pediatrics, 1969
I read with interest the obervations of Dr. Milby and his co-workers (Pediatrics 43:601, 1969) regarding seasonal variations in neonatal hyperbilirubinemia. The differences between the two hospitals in the yearly fluctuation of the bilirubin levels is intriguing and raises a question about possible etiology which might bear consideration.

Hyperbilirubinemia in Preterm Neonates
Clinics in Perinatology, 2016Preterm neonates with increased bilirubin production loads are more likely to sustain adverse outcomes due to either neurotoxicity or overtreatment with phototherapy and/or exchange transfusion. Clinicians should rely on expert consensus opinions to guide timely and effective interventions until there is better evidence to refine bilirubin-induced ...

Pediatrics In Review, 1994
We planned to publish a comprehensive review article on neonatal jaundice in this issue. Concurrently, the Academy's Committee on Practice Parameters is developing a statement on this topic. Because it was not complete by the time this issue had to be "put to bed," readers and pediatricians (especially subspecialists) taking the recertification ...

Phototherapy for Neonatal Hyperbilirubinemia
Pediatrics, 1986To the Editor.— I read with fascination the reports of the 1974-1976 National Institute of Child Health and Human Development Randomized, Controlled Trial of Phototherapy for Neonatal Hyperbilirubinemia.1 The results of this well-designed cooperative study are extremely important for the care of newborn infants.
