WEED CONTROL WITH A COVER CROP (NEONOTONIA WIGHTII) IN MANDARIN ORCHARDS IN GUADELOUPE (FWI)
Weed management is an important point of the citrus production in tropical wet area. Thus, the use of herbicides regularly sprayed on the whole farm is the most common practice. Such a practice impacts the environment and the production benefits. Introduction of cover crops on these orchards is an interesting alternative.

Abstract l -3-(3′-Carboxy-4′-hydroxyphenyl)alanine (3-carboxytyrosine) constitutes 3% of the seeds of Neonotonia wightii ( Glycine wightii ); it has also been detected in the seeds of 3 species belonging to 2 other genera of the Glycineae. The systematic significance of these findings is discussed.

Cryo-exposure of Neonotonia wightii Wigth and Am seeds enhances field performance of plants
Acta Physiologiae Plantarum, 2020Exposure of N. wightii seeds to liquid nitrogen allows for dormancy breaking and promotes plant establishment without adverse effects on yield. One of the most widespread legume species in the world is N. wightii, which is used as a cover crop for animal feed and has positive environmental impacts.

FERTILIZER EFFECTS ON FORAGE AND SEED YIELD OF GLYCINE (NEONOTONIA WIGHTII) IN THE IJS VIRGIN ISLANDS [PDF]
Glycine (Neonotonia wightii) is an adapted and productive forage legume for the seasonally dry areas of the eastern Caribbean islands, but lack of seed availability has limited its use. Replicated field studies from September 1999 to April 2001 assessed fertilizer application effects on forage dry matter (DM) and seed yield of glycine var. Cooper.

BACKGROUND: N. wightii (Leguminosae) is valued as a cover crop and as a potential source of protein in food insecure countries. However, plantlet establishment is limited by physical dormancy. Our previous work has shown that exposure of N. wightii seeds to cryogenic temperatures is able to overcome physical dormancy.
