Tumour Heterogeneity and Disease Infiltration as Paradigms of Glioblastoma Treatment Resistance

open access: yesOnco
Isocitrate dehydrogenase wild-type glioblastoma, a Grade 4 malignant brain neoplasm, remains resistant to multimodal treatment, with a median survival of 16 months from diagnosis with no geographical bias.

A case of dysphagia

open access: yesThe Pan African Medical Journal, 2014
Esophageal strictures commonly complicate radiation therapy for neck and thoracic malignancies. We here report a case of radiation induced stricture esophagus and illustrate the classical barium esophagogram in this condition.

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Integration of Next-Generation Sequencing in Measurable Residual Disease Monitoring in Acute Myeloid Leukemia and Myelodysplastic Neoplasm

open access: yesCancers
Background/Objectives. Recent evidence underscores the prognostic and classificatory relevance of somatic mutations in myelodysplastic neoplasms (MDSs) and acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Methods. This prospective study assessed gene mutation dynamics via next-generation sequencing (NGS) in 84 MDS/AML patients treated with intensive chemotherapy or ...

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

The molecular pathogenesis of myeloproliferative neoplasms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs) are a heterogeneous group of haematological stem cellmalignancies characterised by proliferation of one or more cells of the myeloid lineage.
