Goodbye flat lymphoma biology

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Three‐dimensional (3D) biological systems have become key tools in lymphoma research, offering reliable in vitro and ex vivo platforms to explore pathogenesis and support precision medicine. This review highlights current 3D non‐Hodgkin lymphoma models, detailing their features, advantages, and limitations, and provides a broad perspective on future ...

Causal effects of metabolites on malignant neoplasm of bone and articular cartilage: a mendelian randomization study

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics
ObjectivePrevious research has demonstrated that metabolites play a significant role in modulating disease phenotypes; nevertheless, the causal association between metabolites and malignant malignancies of bones and joint cartilage (MNBAC)has not been ...

From omics to AI—mapping the pathogenic pathways in type 2 diabetes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Integrating multi‐omics data with AI‐based modelling (unsupervised and supervised machine learning) identify optimal patient clusters, informing AI‐driven accurate risk stratification. Digital twins simulate individual trajectories in real time, guiding precision medicine by matching patients to targeted therapies.

C‐mannosylation promotes ADAMTS1 activation and secretion in human testicular germ cell tumor NEC8 cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
C‐mannosylation is a unique form of protein glycosylation. In this study, we demonstrated that ADAMTS1 is C‐mannosylated at Trp562 and Trp565 in human testicular germ cell tumor NEC8 cells. We found that C‐mannosylation of ADAMTS1 is essential for its secretion, processing, enzymatic activity, and ability to promote vasculogenic mimicry. These findings

ACSS2 involved in acetyl‐CoA synthesis regulates skeletal muscle function

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The enzyme acyl‐coenzyme A synthetase short‐chain family member‐2 (ACSS2) catalyzes the conversion of acetate to acetyl‐CoA, but its function in skeletal muscle is unclear. We studied ACSS2 deficiency in mouse and fly models. Skeletal muscle from the mouse model showed atrophic fibers, excess lipid, and depleted NADH.

Correspondence: Cancer incidence and mortality after a first-ever venous thrombosis in northern Sweden

open access: yesThrombosis Journal
We congratulate Hägg et al. on their study investigating cancer incidence and mortality following first-ever venous thromboembolism (VTE), which provides valuable insights into VTE as a potential marker for underlying malignancies.

A working model for cytoplasmic assembly of H/ACA snoRNPs

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Dyskerin is the component of nuclear H/ACA ribonucleoproteins (RNPs) endowed with pseudouridine synthase catalytic activity. Two isoforms of human dyskerin have been characterized: the abundant Iso1, mainly nuclear, and the shorter Iso3, mainly cytoplasmic but occasionally imported into nuclei.

Moments of a neoplasm

open access: yesHuman Pathology, 2008
During my long career as a practicing pathologist in a university hospital, I have only occasionally met patients sitting at the opposite side of the microscope at my desk. Those of you who have experienced similar situations know that the awkwardness starts when the patient enters the room.
