Short communication: Occurrence of squamous cell carcinoma in a platy fish (Xiphophorus maculatus): A case report [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
According to prior reports, similar to mammals, fish are frequently affected by neoplastic proliferations. These neoplasms are classified according to the mammalian tumor classification System (Rahmati-Holasoo et al., 2010). Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC)

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

P120-catenin Isoforms 1A and 3A Differently Affect the Expression of E-cadherin and β-catenin in Lung Cancer Cells

open access: yesChinese Journal of Lung Cancer, 2009
Background and objective Different isoforms of p120-catenin (p120ctn), the members of catenin family, are variably expressed in different tissues and cells.

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

The primary study on the application of gelatum invasive model as an invasiveness assay for glioma cells in vitro

open access: yesChinese Journal of Contemporary Neurology and Neurosurgery, 2010
Objective To investigate the feasibility of applying gelatum invasive model as an invasiveness assay for human glioma cells in vitro, observe the differences of invasiveness between adherently cultured differentiated human glioma cells and human glioma ...
