Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Periurethral Mass Mimicking Neoplasm After Injection of Macroplastique for Postprostatectomy Stress Incontinence

open access: yes, 2018
International audienceA 64-year-old man underwent initial 18F-FDG PET/CT staging for gastric cardia adenocarcinoma, which showed the primary gastric tumor, several bone metastases, and high uptake in a periurethral mass mimicking pelvic neoplasm ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Role of Dynamic Contrast-Enhanced Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Staging of Bladder Cancer [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research, 2016
Introduction: Dynamic Contrast Enhanced (DCE)-Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a useful technique in which rapid enhancement of tumour by uptake of the contrast agent compared to bladder wall.

National Bowel Cancer Screening Program: monitoring report 2012-2013 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
One out of every 17 bowel cancer assessments in Australia from July 2012 to June 2013 detected an advanced adenoma (precancerous lesion), and a bowel cancer was detected in one out of every 32 assessments.

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Challenges in staging and surveillance of patients with neurofibromatosis and cutaneous malignant melanoma

open access: yesJPRAS Open, 2019
Summary: Malignant melanoma is a skin neoplasm with a rising trend of incidence. Positron Emission Tomography in combination with Computed Tomography (PET-CT) imaging is an essential diagnostic tool for both staging and surveillance of melanoma patients;
