Laparoscopic ovum pick-up (LOPU) in neotropical primates of Amazonia: a post mortem model study

open access: yesScientific Reports
Neotropical primates from the Amazon are valuable models for biomedical research. However, several species are currently under threat of extinction, which highlights the need for reproductive conservation strategies. Laparoscopic ovum pick-up (LOPU) is a

Infection by Toxoplasma gondii in Neotropical non-human primates

open access: yesPesquisa Veterinária Brasileira, 2012
Toxoplasma gondii (Nicolle et Manceaux, 1909) is an obligatory intracellular protozoan parasite of warm animals, including human and non-human primates. Domestic and wild felids are considered definitive hosts.

Multi‐Scale Habitat Drivers of Hainan Gibbon Distribution: Integrating Macro‐Environmental and Fine‐Scale Ecological Factors for Targeted Conservation of Threatened Species

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 10, October 2026.
We revealed strong scale‐dependent divergence in the ecological drivers shaping Hainan gibbon distribution. Population‐level patterns were primarily constrained by macro‐environmental factors, whereas group‐level activity differed markedly between family groups in response to fine‐scale habitat features.

Unpacking the drivers of gut‐passage times of seeds dispersed by frugivorous lemurs

open access: yesEcology, Volume 107, Issue 10, October 2026.
Abstract The impacts of endozoochory on plant populations are primarily determined by how seeds are processed in animal guts. Therefore, understanding the factors that determine how long seeds remain in the gut is crucial for predicting the outcomes of animal‐mediated seed dispersal.

Divergent evolution and purifying selection of the H (FUT1) gene in New World monkeys (Primates, Platyrrhini)

open access: yesGenetics and Molecular Biology, 2004
In the present study, the coding region of the H gene was sequenced and analyzed in fourteen genera of New World primates (Alouatta, Aotus, Ateles, Brachyteles, Cacajao, Callicebus, Callithrix, Cebus, Chiropotes, Lagothrix, Leontopithecus, Pithecia ...

Seasonality and plasticity in the use of native and introduced plant resources by a large forest parrot

open access: yesIbis, Volume 168, Issue 4, Page 1572-1588, October 2026.
Human‐induced environmental change is reshaping plant communities, requiring native animals to adapt their foraging behaviour to track and exploit novel food resources. Trees such as pines (Pinus spp.) introduced for plantation forestry outside of their native ranges often become naturalized.

Production and perception of situationally variable alarm calls in wild tufted capuchin monkeys (Cebus apella nigritus) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Many mammalian and avian species produce conspicuous vocalizations upon encountering a predator, but vary their calling based on risk urgency and/or predator type.
