Small but Nice–Seed Dispersal by Tamarins Compared to Large Neotropical Primates [PDF]
Tamarins, small Neotropical primates of the genera Saguinus and Leontocebus, have a mainly frugivorous-faunivorous diet. While consuming the pulp of a high diversity of fruit species, they also swallow seeds and void them intact, thus acting as seed ...

Long-distance calls in Neotropical primates [PDF]
Long-distance calls are widespread among primates. Several studies concentrate on such calls in just one or in few species, while few studies have treated more general trends within the order.

Herpes Simplex Virus 1 in Trigeminal Ganglia of Trafficked Neotropical Primates, Peru, 2024 [PDF]
We detected herpes simplex virus 1 in the trigeminal ganglia of trafficked Neotropical primates (1 Aotus azarai; 3 Sapajus macrocephalus) in Peru. Tests also revealed Saimiriine alphaherpesvirus 1 in the trigeminal ganglia of 2 Saimiri sp. monkeys.

Threatened Neotropical Primates Harbor Genetically Diverse Hemoplasmas, Including Putative Novel Genotypes and Previously Unrecognized Host Associations [PDF]
Hemoplasmas are hemotropic mycoplasmas that infect erythrocytes and may cause hemolytic anemia in mammalian hosts. However, information on their occurrence and genetic diversity in threatened Neotropical primates remains scarce.

Special issue: Comparative biogeography of Neotropical primates
New research presented in this special issue of Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolution on the "Phylogeny and Biogeography of Neotropical Primates" greatly improves our understanding of the evolutionary history of the New World monkeys and provides insights into the multiple platyrrhine radiations, diversifications, extinctions, and recolonizations that ...

Immunohistochemical and serological aspects of Toxoplasma gondii infection in Neotropical primates [PDF]
Toxoplasmosis, a disease caused by the intracellular coccidian Toxoplasma gondii that infects most warm-blooded vertebrates, is widely distributed and fatal for primates, which are peculiarly susceptible for unknown reason(s).

Ultrasonography of the neotropical primate female reproductive system
The Neotropical (e. g., Aotus sp., Callithrix jacchus, Saguinus sp., Saimiri sp., and Sapajus sp.) primates are important models for biomedical research and studies on reproductive physiology and biotechnology.

Coinfection with Canine Distemper Virus and Yellow Fever Virus in a Neotropical Primate in Brazil
We describe a natural coinfection with canine distemper virus (CDV) and yellow fever virus in a free-ranging neotropical primate of the genus Callithrix, found dead in the northeastern region of Brazil.
