Impact of delayed appointments on treatment outcomes in neovascular macular degeneration
Abstract Purpose To evaluate the real‐world visual outcomes of anti‐vascular endothelial growth factor (anti‐VEGF) therapy, the frequency of delayed appointments and the relationship between delays and visual outcomes in patients with neovascular age‐related macular degeneration (nAMD).

ABSTRACT Background To investigate the predictive value of aqueous humour cytokines for axial elongation. Methods This was a prospective longitudinal observational study. 72 high myopia patients (72 eyes) who received implantable collamer lens (ICL) implantation surgery with at least 2 years of follow‐up were included.

Gene Therapies for Neovascular Age-Related Macular Degeneration [PDF]
Pathological neovascularization is a key component of the neovascular form (also known as the wet form) of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and proliferative diabetic retinopathy. Several preclinical studies have shown that antiangiogenesis strategies are effective for treating neovascular AMD in animal models. Vascular endothelial growth factor (

ABSTRACT Aims To assess whether glucagon‐like peptide‐1 receptor agonists (GLP‐1RAs) are associated with a lower incidence of age‐related ocular diseases in non‐diabetic older adults with overweight or obesity. Materials and Methods We conducted a retrospective, propensity score–matched cohort study using the TriNetX global research network.

Proteolytic remodelling of the extracellular matrix by pericytes
Pericytes are specialised perivascular cells intimately connected with endothelial cells and essential for the maintenance of vascular beds. They contribute to the formation and remodelling of the extracellular matrix by actively secreting proteases and protease inhibitors.

An eye on long‐duration spaceflight: Controversies, countermeasures and challenges
Abstract Space flight‐associated neuroocular syndrome (SANS) is a consequence of long‐duration space flight and is detected in two‐thirds of astronauts. In‐flight, this can cause a change in the refraction of the eyes, requiring graded hypermetropic ‘superfocus adjustable’ glasses, optic nerve head oedema and choroidal folds.
