Sphingosine Kinase 2 Modulates Retinal Neovascularization in the Mouse Model of Oxygen-Induced Retinopathy. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Purpose Neovascularization is a major cause of blindness in various ocular diseases. Bioactive sphingosine 1-phosphate (S1P), synthesized by two sphingosine kinases (Sphk1, Sphk2), emerged as a key player in a multitude of cellular processes ...

Biomimetic Bone Marrow Monocyte Membrane‐Fused Extracellular Vesicles for Targeted Therapy of Myocardial Infarction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study develops a biomimetic delivery system (M‐hEV) by fusing monocyte membranes with extracellular vesicles for targeted therapy of damaged cardiac tissue. The system homes to injured myocardium through specific molecular pathways. In a myocardial infarction model, M‐hEV effectively accumulates in the heart, reduces infarct size, alleviates ...

Photodynamic therapy for neovascular age-related macular degeneration

open access: yesPhilippine Journal of Ophthalmology, 2005
Background: In neovascular age-related macular degeneration (ARMD) new vessels grow under the retina, distorting vision and leading to scarring. This is exacerbated if the blood vessels leak.

CCR3 and Choroidal Neovascularization

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2011
Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is the leading cause of irreversible blindness in the elderly in industrialized countries. The "wet" AMD, characterized by the development of choroidal neovacularization (CNV), could result in rapid and severe loss of central vision.

Caveolin‐1 Stabilizes SERCA2 to Counteract Acute Kidney Injury via Suppression of Ca2+‐Dependent Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress in Distal Tubules

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In AKI, initial kidney injury upregulates the expression of Cav‐1, which subsequently binds to and stabilizes SERCA2 via its scaffolding domain and through deubiquitination, thereby regulating Ca2+ homeostasis and ER stress. Conversely, Cav‐1 deficiency accelerates SERCA2 degradation, triggering Ca2+ overload and ER stress, and ultimately exacerbating ...

Bevacizumab for the Treatment of Corneal Neovascularization

open access: yes, 2011
Corneal neovascularization (NV) is a severe complication associated with inflammatory or infectious disorders of the cornea. NV may lead to severe reduction in visual acuity and poor prognosis for corneal transplantation and excimer laser refractive ...

Ferrochelatase regulates retinal neovascularization

open access: yes, 2020
Ferrochelatase (FECH) is the terminal enzyme in heme biosynthesis. We previously showed that FECH is required for endothelial cell growth in vitro and choroidal neovascularization in vivo.

High‐Performance Prevascularized SHED‐Laden rGO@Hydrogel Achieves Optimized Diabetic Bone Defect Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A high‐performance 3D scaffold integrating rGO and SHEDs is developed to overcome impaired healing in diabetic bone defects. By driving extracellular matrix remodeling, rGO creates a pro‐angiogenic niche that significantly accelerates in vitro vascular network formation.

PRECURSORS OF TYPE 3 NEOVASCULARIZATION

open access: yes, 2013
PURPOSE: To study the advent of exudative age-related macular degeneration in uninvolved fellow eyes of patients with unilateral Type 3 neovascularization and to investigate the precursors at the site of lesion development.
