Oxidative stress in Laeonereis acuta (Polychaeta, Nereididae): environmental and seasonal effects
Marine Environmental Research, 2004Laeonereis acuta was seasonally collected in an industrially polluted site (P) and in an unpolluted site (UP) at the Patos Lagoon estuary (southern Brazil). Glutathione S-transferase (GST), superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) activity (U/mg protein) was determined in five groups of worms from each site. Metallothionein (MT - mol GSH/g ww) and

New species of Nereis (Annelida, Polychaeta, Nereididae) from Taiwanese waters
Zootaxa, 2020Members of Nereis species are characterised by having conical paragnaths on both maxillary and oral rings of the pharynx, and notopodial homogomph falcigers on posterior chaetigers. The present faunistic study includes Nereis species collected from various ecological surveys on coastal and offshore bathyal benthic habitats of Taiwan.

New species and record of Pseudonereis (Annelida, Polychaeta, Nereididae) from Taiwan
Zootaxa, 2021Two new species and one new record species of the genus Pseudonereis are described from specimens collected from ecological surveys of coasts of Taiwan and an offshore island during the past 15 years: P. jihueiensis n. sp., P. kihawensis n. sp., and P. trimaculata. Epitokes of P. jihueiensis n. sp. and P. trimaculata are also described.

Nereididae (Annelida: Phyllodocida) of Lizard Island, Great Barrier Reef, Australia
Zootaxa, 2015Nereididae is one of the most ubiquitous of polychaete families, yet knowledge of their diversity in the northern Great Barrier Reef is poor; few species have been previously reported from any of the atolls or islands including Lizard Island. In this study, the diversity of the family from Lizard Island and surrounding reefs is documented based on ...

On the use of troglomorphic characters in Namanereidinae (Annelida; Nereididae) systematics
Zootaxa, 2018The Namanereidinae are one of the most successful polychaete groups to colonize subterranean waters. Many species have evolved adaptations to underground life including elongation of appendages and reduction of eyes and pigmentation. However, the use of these troglomorphic characters in the group’s systematics is contentious. The present study conducts

Cryptic species of Nereididae (Annelida : Polychaeta) on Australian coral reefs
Invertebrate Systematics, 2013We investigate the presence of cryptic species among three highly variable nereidid polychaetes commonly found in Australian coral reefs - Nereis denhamensis Augener, 1913, Perinereis suluana (Horst, 1924) and Pseudonereis anomala Gravier, 1901 - based on morphological and molecular data (mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I, COI, and nuclear ...
