A comparison of demyelinating and myelination-inhibiting factor induction by whole peripheral nerve tissue and P2 protein

open access: closedBrain Research, 1981
Sera from rabbits sensitized with whole bovine spinal roots demyelinated and inhibited myelination in both peripheral and central nervous system tissue cultures. Antisera directed against the peripheral nerve myelin basic protein, P2, demonstrated no antimyelin activity in vitro.

2,5-hexanedione (HD) treatment alters calmodulin, Ca2+/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II, and protein kinase C in rats' nerve tissues

open access: closedToxicology and Applied Pharmacology, 2008
Calcium-dependent mechanisms, particularly those mediated by Ca(2+)/calmodulin (CaM)-dependent protein kinase II (CaMKII), have been implicated in neurotoxicant-induced neuropathy. However, it is unknown whether similar mechanisms exist in 2,5-hexanedione (HD)-induced neuropathy.

Organized Cultures of Nerve Tissue: A Novel Model System for Studies of Lipid Protein Interaction on the Functional Level

open access: closed, 1985
Organized fragments of grey matter of cerebral cortex (CC) maintained in vitro during cell maturation in the explant culture assembly are presented as a novel tool for studies on the functional impact of membrane phospholipids (PL). PL have been found to affect two transport systems and one receptor system.

[Effect of ATP on protein synthesis in cultured nerve tissue of the edible snail].

open access: closedTsitologiia, 1979
External ATP in concentrations of 10(-6)--10(-3) M is shown to stimulate the label incorporation from intracellular labeled pool of 14C-leucine into proteins of mollusc nervous tissue. The maximum effect (by 45% higher than in control) is observed at the 10(-5) ATP concentration.

TISSUE EXPRESSION OF NEURONAL PROTEINS DURING SCIATIC NERVE REGENERATION AND INFLUENCE OF DIFFERENT SPECTRUM LASER RADIATION

Polski Merkuriusz Lekarski, 2023
Aim: To determine the effect of laser irradiation of different spectrum on the expression of neuronal proteins (GFAP, S100, NSE and NF-L) in the sciatic nerve during its regeneration after crossing and surgical suturing. Materials and methods: The experiment was performed on 60 laboratory rats of the Wistar line (200-250 g) with crossing of the left ...

Prospects of peripheral nerve tissue engineering using nerve guide conduits based on silk fibroin protein and other biopolymers

International Materials Reviews, 2016
ABSTRACTPeripheral nerve injuries face some clinical obstacles and unsatisfactory functional outcomes. The slow regeneration rate of defected nerve delays functional recovery. To date, various therapeutic agents are used to enhance the survival and regeneration capacity of damaged neurons.

Physicochemical analysis of a protein with nerve growth activity from the muscle tissue of Rana ridibunda

Chemistry of Natural Compounds, 1992
A protein nerve growth factor has been isolated in the pure form from the muscles of the lake frogRana ridibunda. The individuality of the substance obtained has been shown, its molecular mass (106.0–110.0 kDa) and pI value (9.2–9.4) have been determined, and lysine and valine have been found as the N- and C-terminal amino acid residues of its ...

Myelin basic protein in the optic nerve of the developing albino rat: An immunoperoxidase study of paraffin embedded tissue

Neurochemical Research, 1984
The distribution of myelin basic protein (MBP) was determined by application of the unlabeled peroxidase-anti-peroxidase method to sections of paraffin embedded optic nerve taken from the developing albino rat. MBP was not detected in optic nerves from animals younger than 90 hours postnatum.
