Congenital defects of the ruminant nervous system

Veterinary Clinics of North America: Food Animal Practice, 2004
Abnormalities of the nervous system are common occurrences among congenital defects and have been reported in most ruminant species. From a clinical standpoint, the signs of such defects create difficulty in arriving at an antemortem etiology through historical and physical examination alone.

Congenital Defects of the Bovine Central Nervous System

Veterinary Clinics of North America: Food Animal Practice, 1993
What should you do if you observe a defective calf in a herd? Our suggestion is to seek qualified help to examine and diagnose the condition. Parentage should be verified by blood typing. But, most important, you can keep cattle genetically clean by having your clients report all defects in calves to their breed association and artificial insemination ...

Congenital Defects of the Bovine Central Nervous System

Veterinary Clinics of North America: Food Animal Practice, 1987
Congenital brain defects in cattle are usually obvious at birth, but detection may depend on the nature and extent of the defect. The cause may be genetic or environmental, or the cause may be unknown. Many central nervous system defects are inherited as a simple autosomal recessive trait and may have a significant economic impact on purebred and ...

THE BIRTH DEFECTS OF NERVOUS SYSTEM

National Journal of Neurology, 2018
The malfornation problem of nervous system throughout growth of fetus in uterus has been discussed in this paper. Here the deffects arisen in respective parts of nervous system, disorders formed from these defects and information about relationship between gestation period and development of defects taken from references have been analyzed.

The Sympathetic-Nervous-System Defect in Primary Orthostatic Hypotension

New England Journal of Medicine, 1977
We sought to elucidate further the neurologic defect of idiopathic orthostatic hypotension, which appears to represent two distinct clinical entities. While recumbent, patients with multiple central-nervous-system defects, as well as peripheral autonomic nervous dysfunction, have normal plasma levels of norepinephrine that fail to increase normally ...

CONGENITAL DEFECTS OF THE NERVOUS SYSTEM OF LAMBS

Australian Veterinary Journal, 1975

Central Nervous System Defects in Early Human Abortuses

Developmental Medicine & Child Neurology, 1979
SUMMARYThirteen embryos with various central nervous system (CNS) defects were examined macroscopically and by serial sectioning, and were compared with seven control embryos. All had been aborted spontaneously. Examples of anencephaly, anencephaly with spina bifida, spina bifida alone, encephalocele, iniencephaly and cyclops were found.Histological ...

Maternal Obesity, Gestational Diabetes, and Central Nervous System Birth Defects

Obstetrical & Gynecological Survey, 2005
Maternal obesity and diabetes are both associated with increased risk of congenital central nervous system (CNS) malformations in the offspring and may share a common underlying mechanism. Our objective was to evaluate whether gestational diabetes influenced the association of prepregnancy maternal obesity and risks for CNS birth defects. This Texas ...
