Cutaneous Melanoma Drives Metabolic Changes in the Aged Bone Marrow Immune Microenvironment

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, increasingly affects older adults. Our study reveals that melanoma induces changes in iron and lipid levels in the bone marrow, impacting immune cell populations and increasing susceptibility to ferroptosis.

Reproductive indices in natural nests of giant Amazon river turtles Podocnemis expansa (Schweigger, 1812) (Testudines, Podocnemididae) in the Environmental Protection Area Meanders of the Araguaia river

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Biology
A count was made of unhatched eggs and hatchling live and dead Podocnemis expansa turtles in 327 natural nests located on the beaches of the Environmental Protection Area (EPA) Meanders of the Araguaia River, to determine the percentage of hatching (94 ...

The occurrence and distribution of cellulolytic fungi and Fusarium in seven Montagu’s Harrier (Circus pygargus)

open access: yesActa Mycologica, 2013
A total of 45 species of cellulolytic fungi and ten Fusarium species were identified. Three genera (Chaetomium, Trichoderma, Fusarium) represented 80% of the frequency of cellulolytic fungi.

Exploratory Analysis of ELP1 Expression in Whole Blood From Patients With Familial Dysautonomia

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Familial dysautonomia (FD) is a hereditary neurodevelopmental disorder caused by aberrant splicing of the ELP1 gene, leading to a tissue‐specific reduction in ELP1 protein expression. Preclinical models indicate that increasing ELP1 levels can mitigate disease manifestations.

Density dynamics, diet composition and productivity of sparrowhawk Accipiter nisus L. population in central Poland

open access: yesLeśne Prace Badawcze, 2018
Long-term monitoring of raptor populations can serve as a proxy for the evaluation of whole ecosystem health. The aim of the study was to compare the current abundance of the sparrowhawk Accipiter nisus L. with data from past decades.

Assessing the use of artificial nests for predicting predation pressure in New Zealand forest fragments : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Masters of Science in Ecology at Massey University [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Using artificial nests to predict the predation pressure on natural bird nests has been the subject of over 400 publications, the vast majority quantifying aspects that affect nest success.

M-curves of degree 9 with deep nests [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The first part of Hilbert's sixteenth problem deals with the classification of the isotopy types realizable by real plane algebraic curves of given degree $m$. For $m \geq 8$, one restricts the study to the case of the $M$-curves.

Discovery and Targeted Proteomic Studies Reveal Striatal Markers Validated for Huntington's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Clinical trials for Huntington's disease (HD) enrolling persons before clinical motor diagnosis (CMD) lack validated biomarkers. This study aimed to conduct an unbiased discovery analysis and a targeted examination of proteomic biomarkers scrutinized by clinical validation. Methods Cerebrospinal fluid was obtained from PREDICT‐HD and
