Minimum Storage Regenerating Codes for Scalable Distributed Storage
Regenerating codes (RGCs) have recently been proposed to reduce the repair traffic of ( $n,k$ ) erasure-coded distributed storage systems. Moreover, RGCs can also be used in a scalable distributed storage scenario where $n$ is increased (decreased) to ...

The neural network art which uses the Hamming distance to measure an image similarity score [PDF]
This study reports a new discrete neural network of Adaptive Resonance Theory (ART-1H) in which the Hamming distance is used for the first time to estimate the measure of binary images (vectors) proximity.

Network Synchronization in a Noisy Environment with Time Delays: Fundamental Limits and Trade-Offs
We study the effects of nonzero time delays in stochastic synchronization problems with linear couplings in an arbitrary network. Using the known exact threshold value from the theory of differential equations with delays, we provide the ...

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Thin quartz resonators as a detector element for thermal infrared sensors [PDF]
This work describes the manufacturing technology and packaging of a single-crystal quartz sensor with a thickness of 5 µm. The temperature dependence of the resonance frequency of quartz resonators can be used for thermal radiation sensors with a high ...

This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Conceptual Analysis in Metaethics [PDF]
A critical survey of various positions on the nature, use, possession, and analysis of normative concepts. We frame our treatment around G.E. Moore’s Open Question Argument, and the ways metaethicists have responded by departing from a Classical Theory ...
