Approximation of tricomi problem with Neumann boundary condition

open access: yesNumerische Mathematik, 1984
The Tricomi problem with Neumann boundary condition is reduced to a degenerate problem in the elliptic region with a non-local boundary condition and to a Cauchy problem in the hyperbolic region. A variational formulation is given to the elliptic problem and a finite element approximation is studied.

Spontaneous symmetry breaking in free theories with boundary potentials

open access: yesSciPost Physics, 2021
Patterns of symmetry breaking induced by potentials at the boundary of free $O(N)$-models in $d=3- \epsilon$ dimensions are studied. We show that the spontaneous symmetry breaking in these theories leads to a boundary RG flow ending with $N - 1$ Neumann ...

On a Waveguide with Frequently Alternating Boundary Conditions: Homogenized Neumann Condition [PDF]

open access: yesAnnales Henri Poincaré, 2010
We consider a waveguide modeled by the Laplacian in a straight planar strip. The Dirichlet boundary condition is taken on the upper boundary, while on the lower boundary we impose periodically alternating Dirichlet and Neumann condition assuming the period of alternation to be small. We study the case when the homogenization gives the Neumann condition

Pointwise observation of the state given by parabolic system with boundary condition involving multiple time delays

open access: yesArchives of Control Sciences, 2016
Various optimization problems for linear parabolic systems with multiple constant time delays are considered. In this paper, we consider an optimal distributed control problem for a linear parabolic system in which multiple constant time delays appear in

S-shaped connected component of positive solutions for second-order discrete Neumann boundary value problems

open access: yesOpen Mathematics, 2020
By using the bifurcation method, we study the existence of an S-shaped connected component in the set of positive solutions for discrete second-order Neumann boundary value problem.

Digital Simulation of Diffusion Limited Chronoamperometry at Disk Electrodes without Neumann Boundary Conditions on the axis or at the insulating plane

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2008
It is proposed that in the digital simulation of a disk (or band) electrode flush with an insulating plane, the customary Neumann boundary conditions can be dispensed with on the axis and at the insulating plane, and diffusion can be applied in the ...

Periodic Solutions with a Boundary Layer of Reaction–Diffusion Equations with Singularly Perturbed Neumann Boundary Conditions

open access: yes, 2014
We consider singularly perturbed reaction-diffusion equations with singularly perturbed Neumann boundary conditions. We establish the existence of a time-periodic solution $u(x,t,\ve)$ with boundary layers and derive conditions for their asymptotic ...

Artificial Neural Networks to Solve the Singular Model with Neumann–Robin, Dirichlet and Neumann Boundary Conditions

open access: yesSensors, 2021
The aim of this work is to solve the case study singular model involving the Neumann–Robin, Dirichlet, and Neumann boundary conditions using a novel computing framework that is based on the artificial neural network (ANN), global search genetic algorithm

Eigenvalues of the Laplacian with moving mixed boundary conditions: The case of disappearing Neumann region [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
We deal with eigenvalue problems for the Laplacian with varying mixed boundary conditions, consisting in homogeneous Neumann conditions on a vanishing portion of the boundary and Dirichlet conditions on the complement.
