Immunoelectron microscopic localization of neural cell adhesion molecules (L1, N-CAM, and myelin-associated glycoprotein) in regenerating adult mouse sciatic nerve

open access: yesJournal of Cell Biology, 1988
The localization of the neural cell adhesion molecules L1, N-CAM, and the myelin-associated glycoprotein was studied by pre- and postembedding staining procedures at the light and electron microscopic levels in transected and crushed adult mouse sciatic ...

miR-204 targeting of Ankrd13A controls both mesenchymal neural crest and lens cell migration.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Loss of cell adhesion and enhancement of cell motility contribute to epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition during development. These processes are related to a) rearrangement of cell-cell and cell-substrate adhesion molecules; b) cross talk between extra ...

Neurofascin Is a Novel Component of Rod Photoreceptor Synapses in the Outer Retina

open access: yesFrontiers in Neural Circuits, 2021
Neural circuit formation is an intricate and complex process where multiple neuron types must come together to form synaptic connections at a precise location and time. How this process is orchestrated during development remains poorly understood.

Interactions of the chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan phosphacan, the extracellular domain of a receptor-type protein tyrosine phosphatase, with neurons, glia, and neural cell adhesion molecules

open access: yesJournal of Cell Biology, 1994
Phosphacan is a chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan produced by glial cells in the central nervous system, and represents the extracellular domain of a receptor-type protein tyrosine phosphatase (RPTP zeta/beta).

N-cadherin acts in concert with Slit1-Robo2 signaling in regulating aggregation of placode-derived cranial sensory neurons [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Vertebrate cranial sensory ganglia have a dual origin from the neural crest and ectodermal placodes. In the largest of these, the trigeminal ganglion, Slit1-Robo2 signaling is essential for proper ganglion assembly.

Polysialylated Neural Cell Adhesion Molecule in Childhood Rhabdomyosarcoma [PDF]

open access: yesPediatric Research, 1998
Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) cells express the polysialylated (PSA) form of the neural cell adhesion molecule (NCAM). During embryogenesis, PSA-NCAM is widespread and dynamically regulates embryonal developing processes, whereas postnatally, PSA-NCAM becomes restricted to a few regions of neural plasticity and regenerating neural tissues.
