High‐Gloss SVBRDF Capture Using Bounce Light

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract Reflectance capture aims at the visual reproduction of an object under varying illumination. Past works differ substantially in their experimental overhead, from single‐ or few‐image approaches, that employ significant (often learned) priors at the expense of biased reconstructions, to more accurate approaches that tend to be time‐consuming ...

NeRF-Texture: Synthesizing Neural Radiance Field Textures

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence
Texture synthesis is a fundamental problem in computer graphics that would benefit various applications. Existing methods are effective in handling 2D image textures. In contrast, many real-world textures contain meso-structure in the 3D geometry space, such as grass, leaves, and fabrics, which cannot be effectively modeled using only 2D image textures.

Comparative verification of 3D reconstructed point cloud data: comparison of AI estimation and multi-view stereo methods using Nerfstudio and Metashape

open access: yesSICE Journal of Control, Measurement, and System Integration
We investigated the feasibility of using a 3D point cloud estimated by a neural radiance field (NeRF). We evaluated the quality of point clouds reconstructed with NeRF and multi-view stereo.

nerf2nerf: Pairwise Registration of Neural Radiance Fields

open access: yes, 2022
We introduce a technique for pairwise registration of neural fields that extends classical optimization-based local registration (i.e. ICP) to operate on Neural Radiance Fields (NeRF) -- neural 3D scene representations trained from collections of ...

OUGS: Active View Selection via Object‐aware Uncertainty Estimation in 3DGS

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract Recent advances in 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) have achieved state‐of‐the‐art results for novel view synthesis. However, efficiently capturing high‐fidelity reconstructions of specific objects within complex scenes remains a significant challenge.

TreeON: Reconstructing 3D Tree Point Clouds from Orthophotos and Heightmaps

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract We present TreeON, a novel neural‐based framework for reconstructing detailed 3D tree point clouds from sparse top‐down geodata, using only a single orthophoto and its corresponding Digital Surface Model (DSM). Our method introduces a new training supervision strategy that combines both geometric supervision and a differentiable shadow and ...

Constraining the Geometry of NeRFs for Accurate DSM Generation from Multi-View Satellite Images

open access: yesISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information
Neural Radiance Fields (NeRFs) are an emerging approach to 3D reconstruction that use neural networks to reconstruct scenes. However, its applications for multi-view satellite photogrammetry, which aim to reconstruct the Earth’s surface, struggle to ...

LeafFit: Plant Assets Creation from 3D Gaussian Splatting

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract We propose LeafFit, a pipeline that converts 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) of individual plants into editable, instanced mesh assets. While 3DGS faithfully captures complex foliage, its high memory footprint and lack of mesh topology make it incompatible with traditional game production workflows. We address this by leveraging the repetition of
