E3 ligase Praja1 mediates ubiquitination and degradation of microtubule‐associated protein tau

The FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
E3 ligase Praja1, but not its paralogue Praja2, recognizes and ubiquitinates tau protein for proteasomal degradation. This newly identified function of Praja1‐mediated tau degradation suggests its role in protein quality control, which may provide insights into the pathogenesis of tauopathies.

3′UTR variants of ALS‐linked RNAs modify subcellular and cellular phenotypes

Our study demonstrates that alternative 3′UTR variants of ALS‐linked transcripts modulate subcellular RNA localization and cytoskeletal architecture. NEFH 3′UTR‐Long promotes nuclear RNA clustering, while SOD1 3′UTR‐Long reduces filopodia formation. Role of human RNase 7 in neuronal and glial cell models: moving towards an unexpected new functional link

Human RNase 7 is known to exert antimicrobial activity in epithelial tissues. Here, using SH‐SY5Y and U‐87 MG, neuroblastoma and glioblastoma cell lines, respectively, we found that RNase 7 enhances immune responses to LPS stimulation by reducing the expression of pro‐inflammatory cytokines, nitric oxide, and ROS.

Association between thyroid dysfunction and cognitive impairment in type 2 diabetes mellitus: A cross‐sectional study

Journal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
Hypothyroidism is an independent risk factor for cognitive impairment in T2DM patients, with a progressive risk increase associated with higher TSH levels. These findings underscore the importance of integrating thyroid function evaluation into the cognitive assessment and management strategy for this patient population.
