Cutaneous neuroblastoma (CN) is a rare tumor in adults. Histologically CN can be confused with other small, round cell tumors, especially with Merkel cell tumor. This is the second case that we have encountered in a 6-year period. A 46-year-old man with severe adult respiratory distress syndrome had a 2.5 x 2.0 x 2.0-cm, rapidly growing, fleshy nodule ...

The diagnosis of neuroblastoma in its early stage, especially in asymptomatic children, with the so-called incidentally diagnosed disease, may be associated with a good prognosis. The aim of this study is an attempt at analyzing this problem. Between 1 January 1993 and 30 April 1998, 40 children with newly diagnosed neuroblastoma started therapy at the

In the newborn, cystic masses of the adrenal gland are unusual findings and most are secondary to hemorrhage. We present a patient with a clinical history typical for adrenal hemorrhage who was found to have a thick walled cystic adrenal mass on both physical and ultrasound examination. During evaluation the mass decreased in size, but vanillylmandelic

Four cases of neonatal neuroblastoma are reported. The literature has been reviewed in an attempt to distinguish characteristics peculiar to neuroblastoma in the newborn. The various therapeutic modalities are discussed.

Olfactory neuroblastoma is an uncommon malignant tumor arising from olfactory epithelium. Generally considered to be a tumor of slow growth, it varies in aggressiveness and may cause death by distant metastasis or local invasion. The pathologic diagnosis is difficult, and this tumor is often erroneously diagnosed.Nine previously unreported cases are ...

Olfactory neuroblastoma is a rare tumor. Nasal endoscopy typically identifies a soft mass arising from the olfactory cleft. Computer tomography and magnetic resonance imaging are mandatory for staging (in association with 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography) in high-grade and/or high-stage tumors.

Neuroblastoma usually presents as an upper abdominal mass arising from the adrenal gland. Recent experience with neuroblastoma of the spermatic cord, bladder and pelvis demonstrates the propensity of this tumor to arise in unusual areas. The need for unusual and unexpected masses in children to be evaluated thoroughly for neuroblastoma and for therapy ...

Neuroblastoma is an embryonic tumor of the sympathetic nervous system which represents one of the most common malignancies in early childhood. Its clinical and biological behavior show a remarkable heterogeneity, ranging from spontaneous regression to inexorable progression with a fatal outcome.

Neuroblastoma, an embryonal tumour arising from the sympathetic nervous system, is the most common neonatal malignancy accounting for >20% of neonatal cancers. It may present as an antenatal adrenal mass or more commonly with localised or metastatic (4s/Ms) disease, which is usually low risk with a very good clinical outcome.
